Looking for a Decent OOB kit of the PBY Catalina (1/72 preffered)

My other half Liked the looks of it and wants to build one........

Since I do (mostly) Armor.... not sure where to start on it.....

An old standby is the Airfix "CAT", still a few lying around out there


Not a bad build, didn't have toooo many problems with it, BUT it does have the dreaded raised rivet detail (which I can personally live with)

I have a Monogram 1/48 Catalina to add to the list! Having this beast in my stash I can confirm you it is huge!!! :-) But it´s still a nice kit.

I have two of the Academy 1/72 PBY's and can confirm they are excellent kits. You won't be disappointed.

I browsed around for a while, and it seems like Academy is the way to go. As shown by David's link, there are a couple of different versions from Academy. I bought a "Black Cat" PBY5-A a few days ago (which I am going to convert to a Swedish Tp 47 Catalina, but that's a different story all together). There are some extras to the Academy kit such as Eduard PE .
