Well I am busy studying for my Technical Sergeant test and thought I would throw out some of my review history stuff for fun. I realize these boards are international and not everyone is American, I thought I would ask anyway. So anyway here you go:

When did US military personnel first officially use balloons during a conflict?

A: Civil War
B: Revolutionary War
C: Spanish-American War of 1898
D: War of 1812

This is one of the easy ones. If you really want a challenge I can ask the leadership questions.

Enjoy,

Both the Union and the Confederate forces used ballons for Artillery Observation purposes. This was the first use of balloons in combat in US history. It also considrered the birth of Army Aviation.

Concur, Civil War.

As with most advances in the US Military, it was to support and make more lethal the Field Artillery, King of Battle!!!

First balloons... for Artillery Observation
First aircraft...for Artillery Observation

Radio developed...to call for fire from the front to the battery...
Original computers developed to speed up processing times for artillery firing computations...
OH-58D originally developed as a Artillery observation helicopter to lase for Copperhead rounds...

etc....
etc...

Hey Rob,

How is going? Long time no hear. How is Ole Camp Knox treating you? I suppose you will be going to the AMPS NAtionals since they will be so close to Knox this year. I think it is only a 5 hour drive to Ohio. I guess a lot of the MMCL'ers will be attending. Well believe it or not I will be there too. Bought the ticket in September dirt cheap, as far as over the pond tickets go. What are you working on? I am currently doing a STRV 122 and a LeClerc.

I guess I'm glad I'm just a grunt. You're questions are harder than ours (I'm assuming, as I've never been to a promotion board)
Most of ours can be answered with one of the following:

That's METT-TC dependent.

Speed, surprise, violence of action.

It's in the 7-8.

I dont; know, sir, but I'll find out right away.
