Hi there
I'm starting Classic Airframes' new Bf 109B for the Spanish Civil War group build and I've hit an unexpected problem with the cockpit. Classic Airframes' show the aircraft minus an oxygen regulator and fitted with a spade-grip control column (as on Swiss '109Es). The trouble is, I've found two diagrams (one an period-original) showing the 'B cockpit clearly fitted with oxygen gear and a single-grip joystick.
The kit includes spare sidewalls with the regulator and I can always rob a control column from another '109. Common sense says to trust the references rather than the kit instructions but, before I commit myself, does anyone have any extra info? Was there a change of layout mid-production and were Condor Legion aircraft equiped with oxygen? Any pointers would be much appreciated.
All the best

Hello Rowan,
Have you seen this site?
http://www.moskittech.ru/eng/myze/Bf-109B-1/Bf-109B-1.htm
Check out pic#39. It shows the spade and the Oxygen regulator.

Hi David
No - I hadn't seen that site... and WOW! that's amazing! From the Cyrillic stamps on the pics, I reckon the subject must be 6-15 - the B-1 that the Republicans captured in Spain and that was sent back to Russia for examination... the very aircraft I'm planning to model!
A huge thankyou and all the best!

And Andy...
Many thanks for your link too! I thought I replied earlier, but my post seems to have disappeared into cyberspace... The diagram in your link is exactly the one I've been using as a reference - with the single-grip joystick, plus oxygen...
All the best

Hi Rowan!
Is this an official Campaign or an "informal" group build? Is there any "official" thread for it? Sorry to ask that but I'm a little "out of the game" at the moment...
Thanks!
Jean-Luc

Thanks for the heads up Rowan!
I will probably build an 1/48 CR 32 from Smer for that one... it should be fun! :-)
