Most Chemist shops or drug stores should sell them.

Depends on your state. Here in MA you need a prescription to buy them. Remeber, in some localities, you could be facing a drug paraphenalia charge as well. Check at your local pharmacy.

Great site John....
Now if I could just figure out what sizes I would need for the various size gun barrels in 1/72-1/48-1/35 scales.....
say .30 cal, .50 cal, and 20mm..... in each scale.....

No math is not a strong suit..... :-)

Ryan,
If the law in Ohio is anything like the one here in God's country, Indiana, find a friend who is diabetic and have them get you some.

I have three bags that were given to me. You need a script here to buy them.

Thanks for the responses and recommendations.

I will try to hit the small parts site, but I do have a family member who has a medical condition that might work, but obviously, that is a route I don't want to take.

Thanks again,
Ryan

You don't buy them, you "borrow" them from work... :-) :-)

Oe of few advantages with my line of work, along with perfect cups to mix paint in...

Here in Illinois it's pretty weird. You just walk into the local pharmacy and buy them... And they are CHEAP! I guess that's one of the advantages of living in a place where there are a lot of IV drug users. I always get weird looks when I buy them though, like I am doing something wrong.

On a related topic, I was picking up the plexi case for the ship I am working on and there in the store were bags of all sorts of syringes. They are flat on the end instead of pointed, but will make awesome gun barrels. One of the nice things was that you could just buy the needle instead of the entire thing.

Needless to say, (or should I say, needles to say... hahaha) there has to be a place like this by you. Just look under plastics in the phone book. They use these things for their adhesives, so I'm sure someone will have them.

I've been wondering about this also. I always read about using hypodermic needles for gun barrles and masts on ships, but never where to buy them.

Seems like if anybody can come up with information as to what size needs are good for various things, pitot tubes, gun barrels, mastes, etc, they'd have a good idea for an article.

go to www.androusa.com. They used to be about 35 bucks for 100. But it was about 2 years ago I bought them and still have a ton left over.

I just have one question. What is the best way to cut that small of tubing without crimping or distorting the end? Just curious. Thanks.

From one of the postings here, I guess that this is one plus from being diabetic and needing insulin, which also because of our National Health system I even get free prescriptions every month for my needs.
For cutting you need to speak to somebody who works in health care as there are needle clippers made for snippling off needles when you are out and may not be able to get access to a sharps disposal container. I believe that they are made ein different guages for different needles. Mine is small as Diabetic needles are a very fine guage so that they are less damaging when piercing the skin.

Regards,

John
