Hi Rodrigo

No, not really British... :-) I couldn't find any detail sets, but I came across a set of photos that might be useful if you decide to detail the cockpit the hard way...

All the best

I found several detail sets here:

Use the cross reference and look up the plane you have. I found sets for Trupeter as well as Revell

Hi Rodrigo!

I don't think the fact that I built the kit recently makes me a F4U-7 specialist! You can see pictures of the model in my gallery if you want.
Anyway, if we are speaking of the 1/48 Revell kit, I can give the following informations:
- The kit's instrument panel is wrong as it is the one of the F4U-5. Hasegawa didn't changed it when they produced the F4U-7 version. I decided to build mine OOB so I lived with it.
- The cockpit is not hyper-detailled but if you decide to build your model with a closed canopy it is not that bad...
- Hi-Tech did a cockpit for the 1/48 Heller kit and maybe it will fit into the Revell one... but I do not know about a specific resin cockpit for the later.
- When building the kit you will find three problem areas: the engine exhausts (meant for the F4U-5, they won't fit if you follow the instructions), the wheels (they are too thin as you can see on my model) and the transparent canopy (a nice seam will need some carefull sanding and polishing to be removed!)

But in all it's a pretty good kit and I enjoyed building it! And before you continue to complain about the "bad" Revell kit and the "good" Hasegaws one, you should be aware that they are both the same! :-) Revell's F4U-7 is a reboxing of Hasegawa's one with different markings and... a lot cheaper!

Welcome to Armorama Rodrigo! I hope to see pictures of your Corsair soon!

Jean-Luc
