Very nice Peter.
Are you doing one in RLM 81/82? although I do like the 74/75 scheme the 81/82 scheme would fit in better with my collection. The black undersides are different as well, is this profile for a night fighter? I think you are just trying to get me to build more than one
Thanks for this Peter it's appreciated, it is far more likely that I will actually finish building my Ta 183 now

Hi Mal
81/82 it is then.....any preference for underside? 76 or the elusive 84?

Now I have one done its pretty easy to swap colours schemes around.

I did it Nightfighter as I thought you wanted it this way...??
must be that ole black dislexic magic again...

Is there any chance of doing the profile with a NMF fuselage

I see what you mean now....I'm a stupid boy me...Natural Metal Finish...got it now...take a hammer please.

So I'll do one with the metal....mastik...one lump or two?

Also ..there's an interesting set of articles by David (I think) Brown on Hyperscale about RLM colours and the mess the German chain of command was in re: manufacturing and applying RLM colours.
Somewhere in there I think is the ref to primer usage as camo colours. anyway there's an awful lot of hard work gone into it by the author...well worth a gander.

By for now

Cheers

UPDATE...

First metal one is well under way.
If I can get a peaceful lunchtime I may be able to post first one later today.

When I asked about undersides....I meant under the wings.....

Also if it helps...I remember when at school in woodwork a class mate was making a solid body guitar from ...yes...you guessed it...wood and painted it white.
This was in the late 50's early 60's and the primer colour was a sort of yellowish grey. Tonal value as light as today's car metal primer grey.
I mention it as I don't think technology had got a strangle hold on society back then and I imagine the primer used was not a lot different from that used during the war.....just a thought.

Plus I have the e-mail address for the David Brown of the RLM colours articles. Might be worth dropping him a line in case he's got a better idea than we...

Cheers

Just to clarify RLM 81/82 or it might be 83 but I'm thinking the bright green not the dark green, there has been some confusion over 82/83, but whatever it is the bright green provides more contrast. I'm not too bothered about the colour of the undersurface of the wings but I have nothing in the RLM 84 finish.
When you say "mastik" do you mean with the panel lines filled in? This I don't like sorry to be picky

I will take a look at the article on HS

Thanks for your efforts on this, I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in

Hi Mal...

I finished before reading your last reply.
As you can't see much on the profiles 76 or 84 wouldn't make a big diference. But on the model it would...

Er well here's two more profiles as promised. the top one has an extra side view to show alternative markings.

On the second one I did away with the mottle and plumbed for a splash of 81 around the cockpit and nose top as an anti-dazzle thing.

Including these I will have at least 6 new Ta183 profiles for the next chapter....so your request has had a beneficial effect.... :-)

Cheers

Hmmmm...
The colours are so much brighter and lighter on screen on site. They look far more acurate on the mac in photoshop.

I think I'll do a test....
Results may help get a more realistic look.

Peter these are great I like the idea of the RLM 81 around the cockpit, but I do like mottle so I was thinking of doing a "ribbon off RLM 81/82/3 a sort of continuation of the scheme on red 8, back to the tail with mottling as well. I also like the 81/82 camo pattern on the wings.
I don't know about being too bright but they do look great, thanks again Peter.

Hi Peter!

I have the same problem here when watching my "Mac" pictures on a PC! Do you work with a LCD monitor? The difference with standard monitors is incredible in term of brightness and contrast... not to mention colors!
If I were you, I would buy a PC with standard monitor to check your work! :-)
Your profiles are looking great though...

My pleasure Mal.

I think the combo you mention would look great.

I tend to go with 82 being the lighter. It seems the majority of the wise and sage go for this...so who am I to argue.

And Jean-Luc....
Er....my monitor is normal...I.E. Not LCD....lol

I 've just posted a test for RLM82 in Photo/Digital Photo Editing. I'd be very grateful if you could have a peep to see if one colour shade looks more true to the original than the others.
I've included colour mixes for boyh CMYK and RGB.

Thanks
And that goes for anyone else who might be interested...

Cheers
Peter
