Hello everyone,

Im enquiring if anyone knows of any 1/35 scale kits available, by any manufacturer, of aircraft that would have served with air america during the vietnam conflict?
I am particularly interested in airplanes as i have already built a Panda Huey, and am expecting delivery of the trumpeter Chinook.

I have a list of aircraft, but i have no idea how comprehensive it is.

C-130 Hercules
L-1049H Super Constellation
Douglas DC-6s
Douglas C-54s
Curtiss C-46s
Fairchild C-123s
DHC Caribous
Douglas C-47s
PBY-5A Catalinas
DHC-6 Twin Otter
Douglas B-26s / On Marks
CH-47C Chinook
CH-54 Skycrane
G-21A Goose
Beech / Volpar Turbo Beech 18
Aero Commander
Hughes 500s
Sikorsky S-58Ts
Sikorsky UH-34Ds (1st series)
Boeing B-17s
Sikorsky UH-34Ds (2nd series)
Sikorsky H-19A (S-55)
DHC-3 Otter
Beech Barons
Piper Apaches
Dornier Do-28s
PC-6C Porters
DHC-2 Beaver
Helio Twin Courier
Cessna U-17s
Cessna O-1s
Helio Couriers
Wren 460 North American T-28s
Bell 205
UH-1D and UH-1H
Bell 204Bs
Bell 47s

(I appreciate there are a few choppers on there, but have included them for completeness of the list).

If no Kits are available for any of these models, does anyone have any suggestions as to kits in other scales that I might be able to customise to create one of these aircraft in 1/35 scale?

Many thanks for all your help.

The only one that I know from that list is old Revell Cayuse and that was 1/32 I guess. I tried to build it 12-13 years ago. It was not a particularly good model. Dragon was building later versions of MD 500 series in 1/35 scale. They may work for you perhaps with a few scratch built parts. And good luck abpout the rest. I don't belive tere is and C130 built in 1/35 scale.

Oh sorry there is also Bell47 available in Academy and MRC.

You will not find any aircraft (except helos) in 1/35 scale. Large scale for aircraft is 1/32. It is close enough to 1/35 to use 1/35 figures, vehicles, and accessories with them though.

Off the to of my head, the Hueys are all avilable, you have already found the Panda D/H model. Academy/MRC makes a C model and a Bell 47. SAR from Korea does a B model. Revell makes a couple older 1/32 models, a Bell 206C Kiowa and a UH-1H, and a Bell 47 in 1/35. You have also found Trumpeter's Chinook. Dragon does a Hughes 500/OH-6A.

Most of the aircraft are available in 1/48 and 1/72 for the larger planes. Not really sure who makes what, but the C-130 is made by a few different companies, as well as the B-17, C-123, C-47s, Constellation. CH-54, UH-34, H-19 are all avauilable in 1/72 from Revell on the Skycrane, and Italeri for the others.

Hope that helps.
