I have built my first plane ( a 1/ 48 Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Mk VB). Mal persuaded me to build one at the Telford model show.
I had fun building it, but I had more fun painting it because we used the blu-tack technique for the camouflage (rolling it up like sausages :-) ). It was built OOB and Xtracrylix paints were used.
And as Mal said "you can never have too many Spitfires."
Hope you like it,Courtney

Hi Courtney
That is one great looking Spit. I reckon youve got another medal winner there, maybe a silver or gold next time eh?
I hope your teaching your dad how to build aircraft properly! :-) :-)
What are you going to build next? ( in between polishing your bronze medal for the Sherman!).
Actually,,I think you ought to make your dad clean and dust that until hes got one of his own
Well done

Courtneys Spitfire has now taken pride of place on my shelf ( untill i put up her own shelf ) surronded by the Japanese air force.
Well done Courts i am proud of you .

Your first plane! Congratulations!

And a really beutiful one! You sure have a lot of talent!!!

Keep it up, girl! And make sure you get your own shelf (so that your dad does not "accidentally" take credit for your work).

Cheers!

Hi Courtney!

Congratulations for a great first! Starting with a Spitfire wasn't a bad choice!
You also made the effort to put the plane on a nice base! I can't wait to see with what you will come next...

Courtney,
I'm sitting here looking from my monitor (head turning) to my display shelf. My first plane (which is on my display shelf) was also a Spitfire. Yours is about 4 hundred buzzillion times nicer than mine...........

I've been bested my a .......girl.......

:-) Congradulations! Very nicely done and hopefully we'll get to see some more of your work soon.

Thankyou everyone for your nice comments, and as I said it's my first plane and my Dad ( betheyn ) helped me a lot.

What is the blu-tack technique?

Nils

You get the blu-tack and roll it up into little sausages. You then get the blu-tack and put it on the plane for the outline of the camouflage. You then mask in-between the lines of blu-tack and then you can start spraying.
This a lot easier to do than explaining.

Oh! This is like Silly Putty! I have seen this done. I just didn't know what blu-tack was is all. Thank you for the info.
