Today is a day when Lockeed Martin wins The biggest contract for Polish Air Force Fighter .
F-16 beats - France Mirage 2000 and Sweden Gripen J-39 - GO VIPER !!!!
In F/Y 2006 Poland will be able to have fully operation sqn. of [12 F-16s + 4 (support)] for NATO emergency operations. That's the good news - for US. planes maniacs like me - few Years ago I could only dream about this situation - most of Poland planes are from Russia - old Mig 21 , Mig 23 , Su22 - and new Mig29 - but we have problems to stay on good tech. and combat level - very good pilots but small number of fully operation a/c - for now it changed - I hope so.
Best Regards from new base of VIPERS !!! (:-) (:-) (:-)

Oh no !
Why didn't you by our so much more beautifull and so much more efficient Mirage 2000 ?
The mirage and rafale are usualy considered better technicaly than what the US proposes. The main problem for selling them is that the french missiles they are equiped with are extremely expensive. So, when bying the whole combat system, it becomes very interesting to choose the american system. Also, when integrating NATO, it's interesting to choose an american system, for interoperability.

I think US. have most recent offer for not only aircrafts but whole Poland economy / credits and investments , as hobiest and cyvilian I could only read about political staff about this contract - as US a/c maniac I was happy - I know Mirage2000 and Rafale ( Rafale was not offer )have very tech . improvments but I think F-16 C , Block 50/52 are the best from that offer - in the meaning of whole contract . If Poland have bought the Viper for the air-force, I'm sure you'd like to see a Tomcat with the Polish Navy markings.......there's a thought for a build............

The F-16 is a great bird, but I hope you guys take better care of yours than we do ours! I live near Luke AFB in AZ, largest F-16 base in the world, I'm afraid to go outside without a helmet on sometimes! I think we lost 8 this year.

Wait! Let me clarify something, it has nothing to do with our maintenance personnel, they do their jobs expertly. The a/c just need to be more carefully watched because of the extreme heat in the summer and the cracks in the engines continually grounding them out here.
