Hi all!

The "Duel in the Sky" Campaign will begin in two months. For more information, go to the Campaign page .
To participate, you just have to build... any aircraft you want. But you must find an opponent for it! By this I mean a modeler willing to share a "Duel" build with you as the finished Campaign ribbon will only be awarded to couples of participants! Of course, the models choosed must have been used in the same time period in the same theatre of operation.
I launched this thread so anyone wanting to participate can find an opponent. Just post a message with the aircraft you want to build (a small list is better) or answer to someone if you want to act as opponent. It is not necessary to build in the same scale and all aircraft types are welcomed, even civil (racers) or commercial planes (Airbus Vs Boeing).
As always, purpose of this is to share a nice building experience and have fun!

I designed a ribbon for the campaign:
Let me know what you think about it. I can still change it...

Thanks for reading!

Good Morning Jean-Luc,

The ribbon looks good. This is one campaign I've been looking forward to. The three active members of our local club (Idiotstick, CDNracer and myself) are thinking of having some WW1arial tete-a-tete-a-tete. We're not sure of what planes yet, but considering we have a large selection at our disposal, anything is possible. I will also be on the look out for any stragglers, make sure that every one has an adversary.

I'm in too. I have already posted a list of kits somewhere before - so see if I can get it right a secod time :-)

1/32 Sopwith Camel
1/48 Bf 109 G-14
1/48 Fw 190 D-9
1/32 Fw 190 F-8
1/32 P 40 B which I want to do as a 3 Squadron RAAF bird flown by Nicky Barr in the Desert

I don't think the Swordfish and Fiesler Storch qualify for a Duel in the Sky scenario.

Hi all!

These are nice lists guys!

Nigel, I think you are speaking about me! :-)
As I said, I would like to build a French WW2 fighter from 1940:
- [auto-censored]nal VG-33
- Dewoitine D520
- Koolhoven FK-58
- Morane Saulnier MS 406
Any 109 in early 1940 markings will do Nigel.

Remember a duel can have two or three participants. But not more!

What's this "auto censored" thing!

I just wanted to write "Arse"nal VG-33! :-) Now that's funny... cockpit is working!

I like [auto-censored]nal because Thierry Henry is playing in the team!

does it have to be two planes that fight eachother like fighter Vs. fighter
or is a fighter Vs. bomber also good?

Hi Fabian!

A fight between a fighter and a bomber can also be a duel! Any aircraft can enter the Campaign!

This is a very unusual and great idea. I do have one question though.

Did the planes in question have to physically fire on one another in the Duel?

The reason I ask is during the Cold War The US and Russian Pilots played a game of "Chicken" with each other for years. Could this be considered a duel in the rules of the campaign?

I have a couple of Jets from this era needing an excuse to be opened..

I do like the sound of this but I'm not sure that I can fit it in. I love campaigns but very rarely manage to finish on time. I do have a Sopwith Camel I would like to build though

Hi all!

Thanks for all the posts!

With two month left until the Campaign starts there is still plenty of time to find an opponent, so keep the lists coming... :-)
The word "Duel" shouldn't be taken too strictly. To answer your question Paul, two "cold war" planes could be seen as opponents even if they never shot at each other. In a similar way, two people could enter the Campaign with two "Top Gun" US training jets... not real combat but "Duel" nonetheless. Two Reno racers could also be opposed, as well as an Airbus A380 and a Boeing 787!
Just try to find planes that, at the same time at the same place, were rivals!

If you find an interesting kit in someone else's list, don't hesitate and send him a PM. As soon as a "couple" is created, post a message here so I can start to make a list...

I'm looking foward to this one!
I've got these kits already...
F4F-4 Wildcat
Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc
P-51 B/ Mustang III
B 339 Buffalo
...but I'm up for anything really. I'm sure the new Edaurd Polikarpov I-16 will end up on my shelf soon.
Cheers, Nigel

I'd definitely like to join this campaign. I intend to build one of the following:

F-4 Phantom
F-15 Eagle
F-16 Fighting Falcon

So a bunch of possible opponents there I guess, perhaps some cold war or middle east era opponent.

Hi Jean-Luc

What Mal sait is true for me too .... I seldom finish a model in a given time but I would try and 8 months is a loong time.

I would build almost every fighter of WW2 but I am fondling with the idea of doing something Russian Yak-1 or the new Eduard I-16. I would even do the I-16 in Khalkhin Gol/ Nomohan markings if someone wants to build a Ki 27 or a A5M ....

A German plane is also no problem, as "I have 'em all " :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) (Just got the new Ju 52 boxing and I like the Schlangen martkings much)

If someone is interested shoot me a PM or post here or send me an email at alpha_tango (at) gmx (dot) de

cheers

Hi Steffen,

Ive got a FineMolds A5M2a that could be displayed in 13th or 15th AG from 1938. I also have the Not-so-Classic Airframes A5m4 and the Hasegawa Ki27. I'm circling above as we speak, you might not even make it to the end of the runway! :-)

Hi Frank

been there, done that:

(Hasegawa - Shinohara)

(Classic Airframes beast - Hagiri)

so time for the other side

A decal company from Russia(Print scale or Sprint scale decals) had a nice sheet for that conflict but I'm not sure where to get that stuff ...

Maybe the eduard kit does include some good markings, the test shots look promising

cheers

Steffen
