Hi folks
Stephen asks me for an update on my struggle with Rodens Big Dr1. So here it is
As I mentioned in the other thread “Still fighting” I have done some progress on it. A light coat of Humbrol 64 grey is used as a primer, and then some fine preshading was sprayed with a mix of Humbrol flat black 33 and brown 110 over fine cut tape strips.
Hopefully the preshading will appear somewhat under the final topcolours. At least the white
Now for my biggest concern right now. Have started to paint that streaky finish on the top wings. I’m not that satisfied with how it comes out. Maybe I’ll redo this part of the paintjob. Why not, the whole kit has given me toughs about gardening instead.
The propeller has had a thin coat of clear varnish and it’s just to install the new boss and the decals. I’ve used oilpaint to simulate these layers of different wood effect. The choice of colour was burnt and unburnt sienna over a humbrol light brown base colour.
And here’s the spandau. When the time come to set them in place, they will have a light coat of Tamyias smoke colour.
Cheers

Yes the Fokker came out nice. This one has taken a lot of my time to get done. I don’t know why, it’s a really nice kit, but the kit has stalled for me a couple of times. Now i’m just waiting for some “green stuff” from Warhammer so I can tackle the figure (pilot and the German Shepard. It’s been some years since I did serious figure conversions but I think its will work, so more pictures is coming to this thread about the pilot and his mascot.

Hi Chris
You can get the seatbelt from Eduard. Now they have a set for the Fokker.I can´t remeber now what number, but just search for it on the net.

I´ve got the green stuff from Warhammer today, so now I can tackle the conversion on the figure. Hopefully I will start to sculpt the leggings and trousers tomorrow and son on. I´ll be back with some pictures…

Hi Carl
You will not be disappointed, it’s a good kit. There are some minor things you have to correct on it. Good luck with your build of it.
For the moment I’m struggling with the sculpting of a pilot/aviator for the machine.
Cheers

Great build. It looks very nice.
The small scene "frames" the plane very well and adds a nice scale dimension to the kit.
Thanks for sharing
