Here is my P-47D. I was in a bit of a modelling rut, so I decided to do a quick n easy OOB build, choosing the excellent Revell 1/72 P-47D. I was hoping to finish this in a weekend, then a week. In the end it took me nearly 3 weeks but I really enjoyed it and I'm pleased with the finished result.
Thanks for looking

Looking good Neil. I've got the same kit on my desk, waiting for its turn. I think I will use your photos as a reference

Hi Neil,
Good looking model. I like the 1/72 range from Revell, I think they are great value for money and once built really look the part.
I look forward to the next one.

Looks good. I have heard really good things about the revell 1/72 t-bolt and your pictures seem to confirm that it can be done up really nicely .
Thanks for sharing.

I picked up a couple of those kits at a Hobby Lobby 1/2 off sale ( making them about $4.50 each). Looking it over, I thought it would build into a very nice kit, and you have certainly proved that.
I can only hope mine come out looking as good. Great job.

Hi Neil.
Very nice P47,congratulations.
Nice smooth paintjob.Did you use Alclad and if so which one?

I like it too, nice work. In fact, I've built the same kit with the same paint job!
I found out the kit's fit to be almost flawless. My only gripe is the engine/cowling fit. The engine just doesn't fit inside the cowling without some work. I solved the problem by cutting both the sylinder heads and the inside of the cowling.

Hi Neil, a wonderful looking Jug. If you hadn't mentioned it I would not have guessed it was 1/72.
Are you going to the Hinckley show?

Hi guys, thanks for all the kind replies
To answer your questions
Carlos yes, the kit has good fit. I used just a touch of filler under the fuselage and at the tailplane/fuselage join. And as Eetu pointed out, the cowling doesn't fit over the engine cylinders without a bit of scraping, but otherwise, excellent fit. As others have mentioned, these Revell single engine prop-jobs are excellent kits - especially at the low, low price.
Nigel I used good old Halfords Aluminium spray paint for the NMF, and just for contrast picked a couple of small panels out with Tamiya smoke, and painted a couple of bigger ones with Humbrol silver to give a very subtle change in tone. Then highlighted the panel lines with a wash of Tamiya Black in Future/Klear
No, I won't be going to the Hinckley show. Doncaster, Huddersfield and Telford are the ones I try to get to.
