Common aircraft scales are 1/32, 1/48, and 1/72.
1/48 scale is sometimes called "quarter scale", a reference to 1" = 48" equivalent to 1 inch equal 4 feet.
unit = one unit of measure -> inches, meters, etc.
in 1/48 scale, 48 (1/48 units) = 1 unit
in 1/72 scale, 72 (1/72 units) = 1 unit
1 unit = 1 unit
48 (1/48) units = 72 (1/72) units
48/72 = (1/72 units) / (1/48 units)
2/3 = conversion from 1/48 units to 1/72 units.
If your 1/48 decal sheet is 100%, then your 1/72 decal sheet should be 66.6% of the 1/48 sheet.
If your 1/72 decal sheet is 100%, then your 1/48 decal sheet should be 150% of the 1/48 sheet.
When scaling down to 1:72 scale from 1:48 scale that was easier than scaling up to 1:48 from 1:72 cause of the decal markings in are less accurate.

Hi Kenny
Have you got a copy of Photoshop or a similar graphics programme? If you do a fairly high-res scan (600-1200 dpi), you can import it into the programme and re-scale it while keeping the aspect ratio locked. The quality should hold - but you may need to touch up some of the smaller items, because scaling anything up tends to soften it.
I hope this helps

Hey, Rowan
Thanks for the tip, I guess I should have been a little
more specific. I actually wanted to know how to resize
these scan decals on the PC, only thing I could think
of is to open the pics with paint and resize it there, am I on the right path??

Hi Kenny,
Yes, you can use Paint in Windows-PC to resize your decal but you can also using the scanner to resize the artwork in percentage.
With Windows Paint, to resize the artwork, you have to use the function Stretch & Skew on Image menu.

Hi Francois
I would like to use my scanner, but the only thing I see at the advance section of my scanner is in letter sizes
how does one use the percentage part on the scanner ? and also I manage to resize the decal with paint, but when I test print a page all I wind up with is big pictures and I tried the 5X7 it turned up real small ( almost in scale ) but not too sure if that is the right size

Kenny,
Do you have a scanning software delivered with your scanner? if yes, that is easy to resize your artwork, almost of the scanning sofwares have the function to scan the size in percentage.
I think that when you print the artwork with Windows Paint, you can not adjust the size easily.
I use the Adobe Photoshop with a scanner driver to scan the artwork, resize it, then I save the image in PDF format (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document File), I finally print it in Acrobat Reader with the size at 100% (in Acrobat Reader I can also resize the document before printing).
If you can not do it, PM me, we will find the best way to do.
HTH,
Francois
