Here are some pics of Eduard's 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf 108B "Taifun" ProfiPack kit that I completed recently. Eduard was having a HUGE sale at their website near the end of last year, so I got a few kits I've been wanting to build. This one was only $15 US !
I used WEM's RLM 02 in the cockpit, and Model Master enamel Leather for the seats. Eduard's belts are nicely done, and there are 36 pieces between the four seats!
The engine, although mostly unseen in the closed fuselage, is well molded and detailed. The PE and film instrument panel with it's levers is the usual top-notch quality I've come to expect from them.
I opened the clamshell door over the canopy by carefully scribing it over and over (and over, and over. . .). The way the door opens is so uniwue, I had to build my kit thay way.
I used WEM's Colourcoats for the Luftwaffe camo of RLM 70 and 71 over 65. The 71 (dark green) is MUCH browner than the Model Master enamel I normally use. The RLM 65 on the underside is not as green as the MM color. In any case, it makes a different aircraft look just a little more different.
I recently got Classic Airframes' Early Bf 109, and I can't wait to see them together.

Hi Bill
really great build!!!!!
And I do not think the colours are off ... they look very good to me.
I build the same camo scheme ... great little kit although I had some severe selfmade problems...
cheers

Hi Bill
It's great to see more pics of your lovely Taifun. I've got a couple waiting to build one day - I'll be delighted if they turn out that good!
As we discussed in the Yak thread, I haven't had a chance to get WEM's RLM colours yet, but I do have some Model Master paints which I bought in Athens last year. Finally, a common point of reference. I've never had a chance to use them, but I'll do some tests this weekend and let you know how they compare to the reference paint chips.
All the best
Rowan

Very nice job, on such a cute little aircraft.
I also just happen to have that kit lying about.

A marvellous build of a great looking aircraft that is so different from the usual ME109's, I must admit that even as an armour builder it even makes me think about a go at one of those flying things.

Thanks Doug, Steffen, Rowan, Dave, and John !
Steffan - nice Taifun ! The only area that needed extra work for me was the wing to fuselage. I aligned it at the fillet, which left easily-fillable gaps at the front. At the rear, the wing curved in more than the fuselage, leaving a step. It took a few layers of Zap-A-Gap CA to smooth it.
Rowan - the colors are much different from the Model Master enamels I normally use. But you can NEVER have too many different color paints in your stash !
John - Eduard produces some beautiful kits. Some parts are EXTREMELY tiny, and some are scale thickness. As long as you build with care, they're little jewels.
Thanks again !
