Hi guys:
Here are more pics of my Academy 1/72 Spitfire.
I primed all the bird with Mr. Surfacer. I used this product for the first time and I´m glad with the result. There were some construction details that I didn´t like in the landing gears (cause of the gluing process). After applying the product they disappear but I guess I´ll have to use a good coat of Future before decaling because of the texture of the surface.
The kit on the background wil be my next project but in RAF markings.
Coments will be appreciated.
Here are the pics:

Thanks Jean Luc. I´ll use the kit decals and they are of the RAF 610 Sqn. It doesn´t have invasion stripes.

Hi Carlos.
Looking very nice.
How are you enjoying the 1/72 experience?
I have the same kit in my stash and Im watching this build with interest.
Any construction issues cropped up?

Same here! I have one of this and I also accompanying this topic with a special interest. I love the spits, and I´ve built one when I turnned to build airplanes again, after 10+ years building military vehicles, but that doesn´t ended very good, and now I´ve improved my skills on plane building´.

Hi Nigel & Paulo.
Thanks both for the interest in this build.
I´m really enjoying very much building in 1/72 and I think that I´ll stay in this scale for a while I bought several kits in this scale, today I got the Airfix Westland Whirlwind. Simple but with a very nice shape. It seems to be a nice kit.
The Academy Spitfire Mk XIVc is a good kit with a good general fit and nice and crisp detail. The poor parts are, first: the join of the fuselage with the lower mid part of the wings (just aft the gull wing shape) there my kit showed a gap of less than 1mm that I filled with Tamiya A+B putty, Second: the landing gears and wheel well doors. The last ones are very fragile (I brooke one when sanding it) and I didn´t like the way they look when fited. You have to be carefull when building this part of the kit. All the rest goes easy. Comparing it with the Academy´s Typhoons, Thunderbolts and P 51s, for me this Spit is in the last place.
Now the cammo is finished and I´ll beging with the decaling.
Regards.

Looking good Carlos.
Looks like a nice kit, that cockpit entrance door looks a bit shore though

Hi Mal. thank you.
I notice the same about the cockpit door, but now that it´s already painted I´ll leave it.
Yesterday night while pulling out the maskink tape I brooke one exhast tube, the last one of the left side
The way it´s brooken make the gluing very dificult, so I´m thinking in cutting away all the exhausts tubes with the scalpel , make perforations with the mini drill tool, cut to size metal tubing with the Dremel, and place them in the holes. I know it´s a hard task but I´ll give a try. If all goes right the kit will be improved because the exhausts will look more realistic and I´ll be very happy. But if I fail, I´ll have my first 1/72 spitfire in the trash
Wish me good luck

Oh no Carlos!
What with trashing canopies and everything else you arent having much luck at the moment.
Dont be put off though! It'll all come right soon enough.
Hands up who has never trashed a model?
At least you have the Tamiya MkI to look forward to.
Post some pics of the Mossie and Typhoon all finished and cheer yourself up

Thanks Nigel.
I´m not being lucky with my modeling, but as you said things will come right. Always time to time things like this appears.
Now I have to finish the Moosie canopy and the Typhoon and I´m thinking to start with another project, maybe a P-47 or the Spitfire Mk I. i´ll see.
Cheers.
