Frustrated with my 1/32 Hasegawa Frank, and following the debuted of my 1/100 Bf-109F, I offer my 1/100 Tamiya Thud:

The camo is freehanded with an Aztec a.b. shooting Pactra acrylic. Dumb me, I painted it with the wings attached, then remembered that the wings were not melded to the fuselage--to facilitate painting!

Many of these 1/100 Tamiyas have been reissued and, like the F-105, are quite nice kits with engraved panels lines. They are not today's quality of fit, but some are good for 36 years-old!

Hi Fred

That's some really tight spraying on so small a model!

As a total non-Jet Jockey... - were Thuds painted without the wings attached? Tell us more.

All the best

Yes sir...great paint job Fred. I have the 1/32 Hobbycraft kit and was worried about painting mine, and looking what you did in 1/100 gives me hope. The Thud is a great Jet, never got the notoriety it should have. How are the cockpits in those Tamiyas 1/100 scale kits, I've seen the at my LHS and always wondered

Nay, not to my knowledge. I planned so because I figured that little model's sharp angle wing to fuselage joints would make freehanding difficult.

Cockpit? What cockpit? Most don't even have pilots. :-(

Hi Fred

Sorry - I read between the lines of your original post and thought you were referring to the aircraft, not the kit. :-)

All the best
