and I can say it is a really nice "little" kit. (the box is much smaller than the Ju 52 from Revell or the Fw 200 )

I did not measure it (maybe I won't do at all as I want to avoid the Fw 200 disaster) but while there are no etched parts and just 6 resin parts (exterior) it is nicely executed.

I am curious what aftermarket parts will be issued in the future (you'll need seat belts in any case) and how many souls I'll have to sell for them.

IIRC there were already pictures posted in the web but if you are interested see MPM Heinkel He 177 A-5 "Greif"

best wishes

Hi Steffen

Awesome! I'll definitely be getting one of these - I've no idea where I'll ever put it, but it's irresistable!

I hope you'll submit a review here too.

All the best

Hi Rowan

I am sorry I must reject that reqest (except you have a place for a German review) It is just that I am fully occupied in updating the IPMS website (which is more or less a one man show --- the website not the IPMS :-) :-) :-) )

Sorry but I just do not have the time to translate my article

As for the kit. I am wondering how accurate it is. I hesitate to mesure it as the last kit I cared about (the Fw 200 Condor) was wrong in so much places, that a scratch built kit is not much more difficult than correcting the Trump kit.

Maybe I just put it away in the stash and wait for the AM parts and mistakes to appear ...

best wishes

Hi again Steffen

Would you object if we translated the article for you? It's be great to have an early look at this kit.

And, yes - I agree about the Fw 200. It's not all it was cracked up to be... it really just impresses on account of its sheer size.

All the best

Hallo Steffen,

How bad it the Kondor? I bought it last week (Did you read that, Merlin? . )

Hi again

That would be ok with me. The part on the original is lend from Wikipedia so I would omit that part (or link to the English wiki) that would make the task less difficult if someone has the nerve to translate/transscribe my article....

What do I have to do to send you the pictures and what format do you prefer for the article?

cheers

Hi Fred

Instead of writing the long list again I just link to my (German) article. Do not fear the language the pictures will provide more hints than you'll like

http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/Flugzeuge/Arndt/WK2/Fw200C-4.html

Just a few things so that you like the project even more :-) :-) :-) :-)

Main wheels too large,
tail wheel compartment to small,
elevators 5mm too much to the front,
the weapon stands are MUCH too small (compare to the He 111 in the pictures stand which is identical to the aft stand, analog HDL 151 at the front),
Kärcher intake should be a full circle,
the ailerons are symmetrical on the model but should not be (cutout in upperwing is smaller than below),
missing window where the radio compartement is
some thingies in the cockpit ....

don't get me started

best wishes

Cheers Steffen

I might seek a little help, but it'll give me a chance to dust off my highschool German - I don't often get an opportunity to use it. I can just lift the pics you have in your link - unless you want to send different ones?

Something else I'd add to your list of moans about the Trumpeter Fw 200 are the ghastly "fabric" control surfaces. In fact, I'm not convinced by the overall surface finish at all. Oh, and the decals... I haven't seen those resin correction parts before - they look well worth getting!

All the best

No those pictures are the ones I would have sent you.

Well those are the obvious things I did not care to mention (still no AM decals ... . ) Also the magazine I partly quote (Kit Flugzeug 6/2005) has some more hints especially the landing gear could be further improved as some of the diameters are wrong .. as I wrote do not get me started.

I definitely will try to get the Nautilus wing spar and hopefully Andreas Duda will also finish his tail wheel bay. I have copied parts (Koster and the tail wheel which is a little too large in Koster's kit is an AM replacement (it is the same as the Ar 234 front wheel) for that but I guess his bay will perfectly fit his rudder/tail replacement ...)

and yes his parts are worth getting!!! (his email is in the article)

best wishes

Hi again Steffen

Do you have the Koster kit? How does that measure up? To be honest, I bought the Trumpeter version in a fit of enthusiasm despite my misgivings. When I got it home, I rather wished I'd bought Bill's vacuform...

After the awful fabric areas in the SM79 and the Fw 200, I'm almost dreading what the Wellinton will look like! I hope Trumpeter prove me wrong and it turns out to be a cracker!

All the best

Hi again Rowan

no I do not have the Koster kit ... English is not as easy as you all pretend ...

Is there a difference between "I have copied parts" (=I own copied parts) and "I have copied parts" (=I did copy the parts) in English?... and you say German is complex , ha

As for the Koster kit: I have not heard anything bad about it but is a vaku and I never did one ... and with all the resin stuff I'll get the Trump fairly ok

If you are interested in the vaku I recommend Matt Swan's build at his site http://www.swannysmodels.com/CondorPage1.html

(when you are at his site check out the Do217 conversions ... I will do also a K one day ... at least I already have the Koster conversion kit)

cheers and

Steffen
