Hi
I want to have a go at a modern fighter. Planes were my first love until I got into armor, but recently ive been flicking through the Tamiya catalogues and though how cool some of the fighters look so I thought id give one a go again. What would any of you recommend for a suitable modern US fighter to get me going, I want to do a 1/48 model and do have a lot of experiance with plastic kits so I im not looking for anyhting too simple but I want something that looks cool and would be fun to build. Also what companies produce the best AM bits and pieces for modern US fighters? some of those eduard coloured PE controls dont look too bad. Im really just looking to see what the aircraft fans would recommend so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't really comment on a specific kit, as mainly build 1/72. For modern US fighters Hasagawa, Revell and Monogram are probably your best bet. Hasagawa provide a number of injection molded weapon sets that are good value.
Twobobs make an excellent range of decal sheets specializing in US types. They include Aggressor schemes that add variety over the low vis schemes

Hi Rob,
Hasegawas AV-8B Night Attack looks very cool! Shown here with a lot of aftermarket stuff.
I've seen some great Hasegawa F-15:s also!
Cheers!

F-86-F 30, A 4 E/F Skyhawk and F 4 J Phantom II, all in 1/48.

Wow! That AV-8B is very nice indeed. Thanks for the links Tiger cat I think ive decided what to do-i like the look of Tamiyas 1/32 Phantom so it looks like that will be my first jet in about 6 years. Time to put the armor to one side!
