Hi
My arm is starting to follow my will now, this time its was to close.I´ve pu the top wing on the fuselage today. No problems,it went on nice and easy.
Only one strut to put in.
Next thing will be the engine.
Hope i´ve not bore you .

Hi
Time for an update. Some minor touch-ups are still too fix. Had too recreate the booms from carbon rod. The boom in the kit was not strong enough.
Next,time for some serious rigging
until next time

Hi Mal
Good luck with your first one. What are you going too build?
Sorry Lars I missed this. I'm building a Fokker D.VII (see the Royal Fokker thread) I'm really enjoying it. Although I don't have to worry about light showing the wing ribs I am intending to show the fuselage stringers/formers? by applying the blue paint lightly first, covering the stringers/formers with thin strips of masking tape then applying more blue paint
You DH2 is looking great, is it really neccesary to use carbon rod or would brass rod do? I intend to build one of these myself but I haven't a clue where to get carbon rod and isn't it expensive?

Hi
Ask in your local R/C model store. The Carbon rod was cheaper than the metalrod. But i think you can use brass or metal. The carbon was new too me, never worked with carbon..

Thanks I'll take a look. Is there any special bonding solution for carbon to plastic?

Hi Guys
Finally i’m finished with the DH2. It took me almost three month to complete. But here its is.
You already now the most of this build so less worlds. Just a lot of pictures. The rigging is done with Gold-Zack, a kind of Lycra.
Hope you like it

Hi Lars!
Great work! Everything is perfect and the weathering subtle and well rendered!
Could you tell us more about the rigging material? Where can you find this stuff? Is it easy to work with? Is it flexible?
Again, great job! congratulations!
Jean-Luc

Hi
The Gold-Zack threads an elastic type of thin rubber. You can find this thread in embroidery-shops.
It’s flexible and easy to work with. The main technique for rigging i´ve learned from this site.
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2001/11/stuff_eng_tech_rigging.htm
In the article they use fishing line; I do not like that, so the Gold-Zack it is. The article number for the thread is #977-770
It’s okay to paint after you stretch it. The turnbuckles are made from Q-tips. When you hotstreched them over an candle you got a tiny tube, Pull the thread through the tube before you install the riggline in the wing.
Cheers

Thanks guys,
I’m glad you liked it. Eduard did a great job on this model, i´ve only glue it together, with some improvements. The wicker seat was a must do, i´ve seen the DH2 build with the etched seat, and it been looking nice. I found on internet somewhere how to do a wicker, so what, lets try it out.. The seat in the model is actually the third. Time is the key. Seven days to make the darn seat.
The biggest problem with this kit is the beams, part C17, C18. They are not strong enough, but i´ve saw it coming, and Mike Grant pointed it out for me (Thanks Mike).
I will put this model on an exhibition on the next Saturday, I wish you guys where there. Think i´ve would need your points.
Thanks again guys
Its serious pooltime for me Jean-Luc

Hi Lars!
I don't think you need any points from us! You will surely receive more than enough for your model!
Good luck anyway!

Truly awsome and inspiring Lars thank you very much for taking the time to share this build. I am 3/4 of the way through my first WW I aircraft kit and with the pleasure I'm getting from building it and with the inspirational builds of Stephen and yourself, plus the knowledge that you pass on, I'm hooked
Agree wholeheartedly

Hi Mal
Yes i´ve have the Camel 2f1. Witch one will you want to start with? The Camel or the Bristol?
I recommend you to get a copy of Windsock Datafiles for these projects. I always do that. You find riggingplans and every detail you need for your build in them.

Howdy Lars,
Sorry I'm a 'late-comer' to this thread, but I just read thru it and must add my kudos to the already full list of mates here who agree that your build is absolutely "Brill!!"
Not only was your build enjoyable, but I was also able to 'steal' a few dandy ideas from it that I will be adding to my modeling bag-o-tricks
Can't wait till your done with your "serious pooltime" and get your talented nose back into some plastic!
regards,
Tread.

Ooer Lars, I didn't realise that you were going to build along with me..................or should I say.............I didn't realise that I was going to build along with you Of course it would be an honour but don't feel that you have to change your plans. I have excepted a "challenge" in the "Duel" campaign and I will be fighting Phil's (almonkey) Albertross with my Camel 2 on 1 is allowed, if unfair :-) so you could join me if you like, but like I say don't change your plans just for me.
At the moment I won't be getting any datafiles. Not because I don't want them it's just that I need to choose between models and books. I only buy reference books if I know that I will build more than a couple of the same aircraft, I have quite a few on the Spitfire because we all know that "you just can't have too many Spitfires" Although I would hope to build more Sopwith Camels, in the future, I will build other WW I aircraft before I do............probably. I do have some nice reference, for the 2F.1 however, provided by Stephen (Jackflash), thanks again Stephen

That was not my attention, my builds is just to slow for groupbuilds. Just wonder wich one you would like to see first?
Still having serious pooltime to do, and always prepared for criticism
