Ever have one of those kits that languishes on the shelf 95% complete for years on end? Here's mine- finally finished. This is about the third kit I did when I returned to building aircraft a few years ago.
The Italeri kit is OK, but the Fujimi is probably the best in this scale. It has raised panels lines, which I really don't mind, so-so fit (engine nacelles in particular), and very spartan interior.
The exhausts are Moskit, who are sadly out of business now, they really were neat products. I wish I would have bought more when they were available since this is a kit where they make a huge impact.
I used Techmod decals, which are great, I've used them on a few other kits as well and they compare very favorably with the other high end decal makers.
The paint is Testor's Model Master, the panel lines were accentuated with a pencil and then very lightly oversprayed with Tamiya smoke. I have to restrain myself with the weathering since I used to build a lot of AFV's but I thought the overall effect here was pretty good, used but not abused.
The kit came with the big drop tanks which I didn't like, so I pulled a couple of Tamiya 300 litre tanks from the spares box and attached them with scratch built brackets. I used the new Eduard "kabuki tape" masks on the canopy and was really happy with them, light years ahead of the crappy gray vinyl ones, which incidentally is the reason that this one took so long to finish, ruined the original canopy because of the paint bleed through. Probably not my best finished kit, but a least it's finally finished!

Hi Mike
That's a very fine job! - and I know how good it feels to finally get a kit finished!
What airbrush do you use? That's some really good mottling on the fuselage and fins. The only addition I'd suggest (if the Bf 110's not glued down to the base) is navigation lights for the wingtips. - they'd really be a neat final touch.
All the best and keep 'em coming!

Rowan,
Thanks for the feedback. The navigation lights would be a nice touch. I hesitate to do much more though since it's extremely fragile in the finished state with aerial, alieron mass balances, etc., and I acquired the nickname "hamfist" with good reason.
It's not glued down to the base though, that's my standard photo base, accurately representing a flat spot of European ground from Norway to Italy. :-)
I used a Paasche H single action to paint it. It's been my old stand by for the last 3 years. I just bought a Peak C5 (Iwata knock off) but haven't been brave enough to use it yet, soon though!
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike!
That's a nice "Wespe"! I like that decoration and the camouflage is well done.
With the navlights, I would also add some exhaust stains. On the pictures the engine nacelles seem to be screaming for that!

Jean-Luc,
Thanks! I may add some exhaust stains, I was out of Tamiya Smoke which I normally use to do this. The lower sides of the nacelles should be covered in oil as well, considering that the Daimler-Benz engines were notorious leakers.
