On May 3rd,,Seafire SX336,piloted by Pete Kynsey took to the skies after a 5 year restoration by Kennet Aviation.
The test flight was timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Spits first flight and the original test pilot Tommy Thompson was in attendance.
SX336 was rescued from a scrapyard in Warrington UK in 1973.
Welcome back to the skies and congratulations to owner Tim Manna and everyone involved in getting this rare aircraft back where it belongs.

Not uncommon to have to rebuild tail surfaces and aft fuselage. Usually the part that doesn't survive.

Heres a link that people may find interesting.
One of the posters "Mark12" was the original owner of this Seafire, and there are some photos of this and another Seafire recovered from the same Warrington scrapyard.
I can see most of the aft fusalage in sections,(the serial number is visible),but havent found any wing photgraphs yet.

There are lots of scrapyard photographs of many different subjects to be found in here.

Breaks my heart to see those pictures, but we can always hope that some of those birds will see wind under their wings again someday.
