Hello to everyone
On this Bank Holiday Monday, well in England anyway.
I have attached a few shots showing the work done so far in my efforts to improve/detail the 1/32 scale kit of the YAK-18 trainer by Trumpeter, not shown is the engine which has also received a fair amount of detailing, give me another 6-10 months and it should turn up completed, or so go the plans of mice and men.
All the best to you all.

Hi Peter
That's superb! At the risk of giving away your secrets - can you tell us what you used to simulate the padded seat-back? Are those individual half-rounds or some sort of corrrugated plastic?
Keep us updated on the progress - this surely looks like a major Feature for the future.
All the best
Rowan

Rowan,
The seat cushions are simply made using corrrugated plastic card, it can be a bit difficult to find, its main use seems to be with railway modelling so check out your local model railway shop. On the model the plastic was cot slightly narrower and shorter than required, this allows an edging made from soft lead solder to be wrapped around the cushion.
Glad you like it

The model is the subject of an online build over on the VVS site, however the link from the front page is missing at present, however as long as you guys don`t mind the fact that it is appearing on another web site I am happy to keep you updated.

Hi Peter!
I think it would be a good idea! It's always nice to see uncommon subjects such as the Yak-18. Especially when it is so nicely detailled!

Hi all,
Rowan and Jean-Luc,
Thanks for you comments.
Here are few shots taken some time ago when I was working on the engine for the YAK-18, it sits in a box at the moment waiting.
