1. Typhoon
2. Spitfire F.24 (Mk XXIV)
3. P-39 Airacobra.

Of course any new 1/32 Spitfire would be great, but a Mk IX particularly or a XIV would get a first vote from me.

I'd love to do them all, but I guess that doesn't count.

So..

1 KI 61
2 Hawker Typhoon ( hopefully with a good representation of the Napier Sabre engine )
3) F86 Sabre

But again, I'd buy them all in an instant ( and am allready looking forward to the P51 D that was announced at Shizuoka )

Wish there was something from 1915-1935, but:

1. Typhoon
2. P-39
3. - no choice, very close tie among F8F, F86, F100

Thanks for asking,
John

1. Ki-61
2. Typhoon
3. Bf-110G4

I find it odd that being a 1/32 aircraft survey, the good folks at DML didn't approach us at Large Scale Planes. 1/32 definitely counts as a large scale plane and we have topic upon topic about who should do what, next.

Anyway, FWIW, those are my three picks.

Will these be new tooling, or for example, in the case of the Ki-61 Tony Hien, be a repop of the old Revell kit?

I find it odd that being a 1/32 aircraft survey, the good folks at DML didn't approach us at Large Scale Planes.

I don't find it odd at all. Dragon has been working with several Armorama members for a few years now regarding 1/35 and 1/72 scale armor. Some are even paid to travel and provide research, measurements and photos. They had points of contact in the modeling community already established with the site's staff members. They also knew we had aircraft and warship forums.

We even had members here accusing the site of becoming "Dragonrama" because we had so much Dragon news content and so many reviews of their products. They provided Jim with advance information on new kit releases and he posted the news. And hey, they send us free kits and we review them. It's a win-win situation for reviewers and the site.

It seems natural for Dragon to exploit this site to test the waters for new genres. While LSP is most likely a better site for 1/32 scale aircraft surveys, they would have still needed to find another site for the warships. At least here, they already had a point of contact and knew they could get the ball rolling for both genres with one e-mail.

Instead of building walls by being skeptical as to why they chose us, you could try offering your assistance to the site aircraft staff members. Who knows, you could end up being one of the modelers Dragon eventually pays to take photos and send them research material for a large scale aircraft model.

Again, no offense to LSP, but Armorama has over a couple hundred visitors at any particular time of the day making hundreds of posts. A survey here gets a lot of exposure in the modeling community.

My choices are big chunks of American steel:
1. F-86 Sabre
2. F-100 Super Sabre
3. F8F Bearcat

Howdy Jim

Mighty glad, and impressed, that DML would be so kind as to honestly poll our wee site.......that's great.
Not sure who to really thank for this {after having read our good Sabot's post}, but whomever those lucky buggers might be......Thanks

Anyway, to your request.

Because of the implied {maybe} importance of this query, I feel compelled to be completely honest.

First, I'm at least somewhat befuddled by their choices.....with soooooooo many other examples of subject matter out there, narrowcasting the choices down to these is a little....surprising.
But, this being their choices after all, I will toss out my input with hopes of not raising too much 'ire'.

Of the 8 (eight) choices submitted to us for approval/ disapproval, 5 (five) have already been released previously in that scale {let's not argue about the Spit. XXIV as opposed to....?} Anyway, continuing.
That leaves the Bell P-39, the F-100D, and finally the F8F Bearcat.
I believe Trumpeter {?} has almost released their 1/32nd scale version of the valiant and venerable F-100 {due.......now?}. That again leaves, the P-39 and/or the F8F.

Now, I'm sure there's a group of you ready to pounce on me but.........being in the position of being asked by one of the premeir companies {DML} to make a judgement call on which of these two pieces of subject matter to spend a small fortune on developing to sell to the marketplace........well, I will be content to sit in my own wee corner and say...........hey, DML?. Why don't you pose the question this way since you are, in fact, taking the time to Poll those of us who actually model your stuff.

What aircraft do you feel is the most missing from the ranks of the 1/32nd scale aircraft offerings out there, and what in particular makes this aircraft unique and desirable???

my humble apologies for my Farthing's worth......

Tread.

Yeah...I know. I'm a big pain in the [auto-censored] gluteous maximus (hehe...to the "auto-censor"}. But then, that's my calling apparently......don't believe me?....then just ask my significant 'other' :-)

Here is a wacky thought---any chance that they could be persuaded to product whatever in 1/35???? They have the scaling worked out as obvious with their fine armor kits, and then we could mix and match air & armor, as the new crop of 1/48 armor allows.

Jim, any chance you might suggest this to them?

Sorry, not a chance . Aviation is fine in 1/32nd scale (with the exception of helicopters). It's been the industry standard for too long to even attempt to influence a change like this..Jim
