This will be Hunters and myself's build thread for our "Duel in the sky campaign".
I will be building a 1/48 Sanger models vac-form Kawasaki Ki-48 "Lilly", which will be pitted against the might of Hunters P-40.

This is my first attempt at a vac-form kit, so don't expect me to finish any time soon, and if you hear any swearing coming from the U.K, that will probably be me :-) .
Let battle commence

Hi Andy!

You launched the first "Dogfight" thread in the Aircraft Forum!
By watching at the picture of your kit, I think it is appropriate to wish you good luck! :-)

In the name of all that is Holy, Andy!

I'm not worried about your swearing. I'm more concearned about your mental stability and sanity after building a kit like that. That mess looks more like the stuff they package electrical components in to keep it safe during shipping. :-)

I, my family, my Sunday school class, and neighbors will all be praying for you in the days ahead.

:-) :-) :-) Funny you should say that, Nige (Lampie) said the exact same thing.
The strange thing is that i ordered another vac-form kit as well.
I really wish someone would mould a 1/48 Jap bomber in injection plastic, as that would really help my sanity :-) .

P.S Lucky i have only signed up for 3 campaigns for the second half of the year .

Hi Andy!

Here is a picture of my kit before I start building it. This is a P-40 Flying Tiger made by Hasegawa in 1-48 scale and it will have the markings of my great Uncles plane that he flew in WW-2. Dad built this same model for the show your teeth competition a while back and he will be helping me build mine since it is a hard kit to work with. I am ready to get started and can not wait to shoot down your bomber! :-)

Hi Hunter,
That's a good looking plane your going to have there. You should be able to build it better than your Dad did as you can avoid all the pitfalls he had.
As for shooting down my bomber, we will have to see.
As i have started building it and to tell the truth i don't think this thing would be able to take off, let alone get in a dogfight :-) .
This is one of the most challenging kits i have ever started :-) .

P.S I'll post some progress pics when i feel i have got somewhere :-) .

Hunter, I can't wait to see how your P-40 turns out. It's been a favorite of mine since I was kid.

Andy, Good luck with the vacuform kit. I still have a voice in my head saying, "Don't go there". Maybe someday I'll try one.

Looking forward to some in progress pics.
