Finished this one up about 2 weeks ago....the first build that I completed for nearly two months! OOB except for Eduard PE seat harness. Tamiya acrylics airbrushed freehand.I took some time off due to creative burnout and to deal with a few personal issues. Sure feels good to be back at the workbench!!

Hi James!
That's a cool looking P-47! I like the way the grey areas blend with the dark blue ones!
As Nigel I would like to know more about the background. Is it a poster or did you print a picture yourself? Anyway, it's very inspiring!
Thanks for posting the pics and congratulations for an excellent job! MOM next month?

I just love these colours on the P-47M and what a wonderful job you have done James, I love it. That canopy looks awsomely clear and the paint job and the weathering is spot on

Very nice job James
I love that paint scheme and the weathering is superb
I would also like to know about your background. It really adds to the realism of your pics.

Iīm sure that if you show these pics to someone that isnīt in this hobby heīll think itīs a real aircraft.
Congratulations.

Thank You Gentlemen,
As always, compliments from the "Local Talent" mean so much!! This kit is typical Tamiya "Jugalicious"...in other words, every modeller should have at least one! No hassles whatsoever, and in fact, I built it as a break from the Academy 1:32 F-16C Viper (In Fulcrum Aggressor Colors!). I've been chipping away at that bugger since March(!).
Anyways, the backdrop is a photo of the runway at the Kalamazoo "Air Zoo", or more properly, the "Western Michigan Aviation History Museum" in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA.
The pic was shot by a modelling buddy of mine, Mr. Clare Wenzel, a damned fine modeller of all things 1:72 Aviation. The local 2 IPMS clubs always get together for a fine expo each year at this facility as well.
I enlarged the pic on PaintShop Pro 9.0 to 8.5 x 11.0", then printed it out on Matte Photo paper (Avery) on my HP PhotoJet printer. Stuck it up on my backdrop board (Black presentation display board) with a few pieces of Blue Tac, and placed the model on a Gray piece of display board in front of it. Illuminated with two crappy, 30 year-old goosenecked desk lamps with GE "Natural Light" bulbs (75 watt), and shot with a Canon PowerShot A75. I think I used theF-stop @ 8.0,I had the "Macro" setting on, and theWhite Balance was "Custom". No flash used, and the exposure was set to "0". These are the settings I almost always use with this 'Indoor Studio" (You should see it, it's really funny...I should post a photo).
Thanks again for the "Props" (Get it...? Props...?). I hope this helps anyone interested in shooting pics of their work. I have a lot more on my site, http://www.scalewarbirds.com .
