G'day,
Here my subject model has the cammo applied in the 'Temperate Land Scheme', all paints applied to this subject are enamels, they have been mixed and matched from diferent makers of model paints:
The Sky undersurfaces is Tamiya XF-21
The Dark Earth upper surfaces is Humbrol #29
The Dark Green upper surfaces is AeroMaster 'warbird' RAF Dark Green
NOTE: I'm sorry as their are a few reflections from the mirror base in these pix , as I use the mirror {avoids the breakages when a model is turned over} as a means of showing the undersurfaces.
The trailing antenia is made from 'Invsithread'.
Part 2 pix:-

Very nicely painted Rob, looking good
Is the Tamiya Ky as blue as it looks in the Pics? Sky is a wierd colour and is actually much greener than the pics show. I'm guessing that the Tamiya "Sky" is in actual fact sky blue?
Here's a pic of one of my Spitfires with "Sky" undersurfaces:
Of course it is possible that the undersurfaces were re-painted?

Hi Rob and Mal
Depending on the vintage, there was a lot of variation in "Sky". If you read something like Michael Bowyer's classic "Fighting Colours"(based on his own eye-witness observations) you get a idea of just what a nightmare pinning down a supposedly staightforward colour can be.
All the best

Great Hurri so far Rob.
Looking at the pot of Tamiya Sky ( XF-21) i have it is definetly on the green side. They also do a Sky blue ( X-14), which looks more like the colour on Robs Hurricane.

Hi Rob.
Looking good sofar
Only thing I can spot is the 2 outer machine guns on each side of the wing. These are in the wrong place.(Its the mould not you)
I would fill these and drill the machine gun ports out in the correct postion,ie on the front of the leading edge. You can use the cartridge ejection ports as a guide to their positions.
Other than that its looking really nice and I look forward to part 3!

Thanks all,
For the kind words on this Malta subject project.
Mal,
It's the light reflection that shows the Tamiya Sky in a blueish hue.
Lampie,
The refs I found in the SAM Data File 'Modellers Guide' on the, Mk IIb Hurricane show the outer pair of wing guns are in the same posision as the model subject. I browsed threw the book today after borrowing it from a friend.

Hi Rob.
Your right about the outer machine guns being offset, they just looked a bit high imho.
Odd that Hawker chose to position them like this,as youd think space would be a premium inside that narrower part of the wing
Is this 1/48?,and which kit is it?
Ive got a couple of MkIIB's in my stash,,Revell and Hasegawa, both in 1/72.
Are you going to give it some heavy weathering,as the aircraft based on Malta certainly went through some rough times.Sun,dust, lack of spares etc,and thats without the attention of the German and Italian air forces
Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Hi Nige,
My Hurri is the Hasegawa IIb in 48 scale and yes the 'well used look' in weathering will be applied to this subject.
