after sorting out the interior colour of this aircraft (thanks stephen!) i made a start. right, first things first there was an ejection pin mark towards the front end that i sanded away, then filled up with talc and kleer. this set in about 20 mins so i got that rubbed down, then put a coat of humbrol 71 over all the front end. this will be the fabric part of the fusalage, then i will paint in the wooden triangular "cheek" pieces

EDIT oops! any chance of a mod putting this in the right forum! i'm half asleep, sorry

more progress in spite of a bit of a hangover (thats dedication for you!) i sprayed the lighter fabric colour on first (the humbrol 71) with the idea of masking and spraying on the wooden triangle, BUT due to the cockpit detailing on the sides i could only mask the top line and paint the bottom line freehand (in humbrol 94) its a bit wobbly but i should be able to get it straighter. what i'll do next is to use some spare "paint and grain" i have left over from home decorating with a 0000 brush and simply paint on a grain effect

p.s. thanks for sending this post to the proper department!

here some more progress on this kit, i got the cheek peices grained, and tbh they did'nt turn out as good as i hoped, but as they are fairly well hidden i can live with them. after that i started picking out the cockpit details, and put some seatbelts made from bottle foil in

Looking good Phil. How much detail is there on the inside, once the cockpit is in ?
Why can't Tamiya/Humbrol etc do paint tins that size :-) .

Thanks Phil.
A bit barren in there, just like the real things were :-) .
Looking promising so far though. I like the grain effect on those cheek thingies.
Keep posting the pics and the progress reports.
Andy
