Last night, I finished the 1/48 HobbyCraft FG-1D Corsair that I built for a customer. It flew in the 1969 "Soccer War" for the El Salvador AF against Hondouras. The war erupted over a disputed soccer match. Talk about fan(atic)s !

The upper camo was sprayed freehand, using Model Master RAF Interior green and Middlestone enamels, along with Gunze acrylic SEA Dark Green. The lower surfaces are Gunze acrylic SEA Light Gray.

I added the kit rockets, along with bombs and shackles from a Hasegawa Mustang. I didn't have any confirmation on the bomb colors, so I figured I couldn't go wrong with gray. I added Eduard PE belts, and weathered it with aluminum colored pencils and pastels.

This was a fun project, and the HobbyCraft kit isn't too bad.

That's a lovely looking Corsair, Bill. It makes a nice change to see a colour scheme other than the usual US navy scheme. A candidate for model of the month?

Looks great! I have to agree with Harri in that it's nice to see a different camo design on it and you did a great job, too!

Great work Bill. Just love that camo.
After you posted the pics of the in-progress build, i looked up about the "Soccer war", and it was fascinating reading. The actual war lasted just over four days, but it would took more than a decade to arrive at a final peace settlement.
How is the rest of the air forces coming along.

Thank you Harri, Doug, ygmodeler, Vance, and Andy !

After building this one, the blue and tri-color schemes look pretty boring to me. Since this is for a customer, I have to ship it soon. I may have to do one of these for myself one day.

Thanks again !
