Just for fun...as its Aeroscale launch day...
Does anyone know which aircraft this is?
Cheers

it looks like a gloster meteor fitted with 262 engines, and as this is my first aeroscale post, i think it looks great! (aeroscale that is, not peters mystery machine!)

Its a British concept design from 1947.

Some good guesses...
Cheers and thanks

Whatever it is, it'd be a swine to control, with only one aileron.

Sort of a PS...
If I can find that starboard b****y flap thingy, it may be part of a future profile set.
We'll see.
Cheers

of course i would have recognised the side profile straight away! :-)
on a side note i have a book called cold war prototypes that is full of aircraft like this. except the p1048 did'nt warrant a mention, although all the aircraft in the book had at least one flying prototype built. its full title is cold war combat ptototypes by robert jackson, and i think its a book thats right up your street peter, if you have'nt already got a copy!

Hi Phil
... up my street and ringing the door bell ...
I don't have it...but I will certainly be looking to buy a copy.
Thanks for the heads up...a pint for you on the slate in the cyber bar.
The ref I have for the P1048 is from Tony Buttler's book British Secret Projects, Fighters since 1950. Great book.
Thanks again
Cheers
