I just love the P-47,and I've been trying to hunt down the correct cockpit color as I know Interior green was not used on the P-47 from the factory.it was a deeper green. Not as yellow as interior green is . I'de like to Know what some of you guys & gals might be using for this particular shade! Thanks all input appreciated!

Hi Joe.
I use a Humbrol Enamel for mine.I cant remember the number but I'll PM it you when I get home next week.
Im not sure if its 100% historically accurate but after a wash and some dry brushing it "looks right".
You can see the cockpit interior on the "In Progress" thrread.
Tamiya 1:72 P47 Build
Hope this helps.

I just thought that as it was new that I would take a trip to the 'dark side' as the things that go in the sky are...................as an armour modeller.
Anyway from my memory of the instruction of my accurate miniatures Avenger at the back of my stash, I believe the the darker colour that you require is Bronze Green. Sorry I cant offer a number or brand at this time.
John Thought I had better mark the site with one tank at least

Hi Joe
It depends on the version you're building and the sub-contractor. According to colour photos in Detail & Scale Vol. 54, the P-47D and 'M cockpits were Dull Dark Green, but they also show a Curtiss-built P-47G with a Chromate Green interior - apparently, Curtiss used this, unlike the Dull Dark Green used by Republic.
Hope this helps

Hi!
I used Humbrol #149 Matt Dark Green, It´s close to the Bronze Green used by Republic.
This color is on the way out, but sometimes you can find ´em anyway!
Happy Modelling!

Thank you for the Input! Bronze green,I'll have to try to keep an eye out for the color as I'm building Academy's P-47N and I'm not to happy with interior green being the color of choice! Its a true details cockpit that I'm using.

Joe, try the Stockholm IPMS site, click on the Help Desk and scroll down to United States aircraft. They have a three part section on interior colors for US WWII aircraft. They address the various colors and often provide FS colors, and also address the various aircraft and what colors were used on the interior surfaces.
I finished a 1/48th scale Tamiya Razorback Thunderbolt earlier this year, and used the color information.
This has been a useful tool for my efforts. Good luck.

White Ensign, www.whiteensignmodels.com, have Interior Green FS24151, Zinc Chromate Green (darker than Interior Green), Zinc Chromate Yellow, and Dull Dark Green in their range.

Thank you Antoni, I tried that web sight but I am having a lot of trouble with that White Ensign web sight. It just does not want to cooperate with me. Is it like that with anyone else?

I think so. Not very good is it. What I do is click on the words on-line shop not the boxes above. Then on Aircraft, Colourcoats, USAAF. That is quickest way I have found to get there. Other roots seem to involve long waits. Not had any problems ordering from them on-line using this method. Postal service seems pretty good.

I do not have my documentation handy here but I'm positive that P-47Ns had their cockpit painted in Interior Green! Dull Dark Green is the colour of choice for P-47Ds, in which case I'd recommend using the White Ensign Model DDG...

Hi Joe.
Further to my earlier reply, the green I used on my P47D was Humbrol 117.
