Hi All.
This is the PM Models Sea Fury in 1:72 built for the Suez Campaign and finished in Egyptian markings. Its sprayed with various shades of Aclad and weathered with a fine mist of Tamiya Buff in an attempt to replicate the battering I expect these planes took in the harsh Middle East conditions.
The kit was a bit of a challenge with plenty of filling and shaving of parts to get them to fit.
Its the first time Ive attempted this sort of heavily weathered finish and comments, advice for future builds are more than welcome.

Hi Nigel!
It's a lovely and original model you've built for the "Suez" Campaign! I hope this one will get Polarbear back to Aeroscale!
The paint job is great and the choice of using Tamiya Buff was a good one. Did you also used it for the panel lines? The different shades of aluminium are also a nice touch.
I have two remarks though:
The exhaust stains should have a wider range of gradation from much (front) to less (rear). Did you used pastels? On your model the stains seems to stop in a too abrupt way in my opinion. I hope I used the right words... remember I'm French!
I think you also forgot to drill the squarish intake opening of the right wing.
Other than that, it's a model you can be proud of!
Jean-Luc

Excellent job Nigel ! It looks really nice.
The contrast between the panels has been achieved clearly. I like how the canopie looks.
Congratulations.

Excellent work Nige.
The weathering effect is really well done.
I agree with Jean-Luc though about the exhaust stains, but then again i know you have reworked them .

Thanks for the comments guys.
Its certainly something different to what I would normally build and I like it.
Jean Luc,
I thought the same about the exhaust and Ive blended it in a bit more so its not so abrupt and now fades out. The photos Ive got show the vent on the right wing to be solid so I went with that. Probably not correct but I just went along with it. The panel lines were washed in dark earth water colour, and its the first time Ive managed to get a panel wash looking something like how its supposed to.It took about 4 washes before I was happy with it, and the misting of buff certainly pulls everything together.
Carlos.
Thanks,I too like the different shade panels and next time I do a NMF I will definately be doing this again, but even more than on the Fury.

It certainly gives it an authentic looking "used" effect. Congratulations on another excellent build.
