Hi all,
I need some help and am hoping someone here can give me an answer.
My P-47 came with four complete propellars for different versions.
I am doing a scheme "Georgia Peach II" which calls for a 'Curtiss Electric Asymmetric propellar. By this picture is there any way anyone can tell me which one this is? B is the only with a large 'nose'. The other three props take a narrow pointier tip. A and B are the same length of blades. C and D are the same lenth in blades but shorter than A and B.
My research lends me to believe it is A.
Thanks for looking,
Wayne

Hi Wayne.
Have a read of this P47 Walkround. It specifically states the prop to be the asymmetric version.
P47 Walkround
The P47 in question is now in the RAF museum at Hendon.
Heres a photo of the prop I took on a recent visit, and it also shows some great engine detail.
Comparing the photos to the props supplied with the kit I would suggest "A" as well, but Id check further before you make a final choice.
Hope this helps.

Hi Wayne!
Yep, "A" is a cuffed assymetrical Curtiss prop!
"B" is a Hamilton standard prop.
I think "C" is a Cuffed narrowbladed Hamilton and "D" is a Symmetrical cuffed Curtiss.
I´m not entirely sure about the last two props, though!
Greetings!

Thanks very much Nigel and Stefan for the help Each of you get a frosty one here on me
So far it looks like A is the right prop. Excellent.
And Nigel - thanks so much for the walkaround pics. In my internet searching, for some reason I never came across that one. There are a few really good pics in there that will help me with the landing gear too.
I am a little jealous of you for now I have a really good air show in my area each year, plus I have been to a museum that has some good aircraft. But I have not yet seen a P-47 up close yet
Some day tho Last year was my first time for seeing a P-38 up close and in flight. That was sooooooo cool
Thanks again,
Wayne
