Hi Ryan,
Heres my Sea Fury. I'm putting this on here for 2 reasons. One you said that you would like to see it, so thats a good enough reason. The other reason is that I've found myself wanting even more to finish the projects that I put on here. I have been building this for what must be years. The kit decals are *ra* so I bought Almark decals, which are not great but have all the stencils. Biggest problem was the white on the roundels was not opaque and the stripes and underlying colours showed through. It's taken me forever to sort it out. Now by posting this I will, I hope, get on and finish it. In fact I'm planning on finishing the decals tomorrow. :-)
It is the 1/48 Hobbycrft kit. Without counting any rivets, it looks like a Sea Fury. The kit is a little basic and the instructions are poor and like I say the decals are *ra*. It is painted with Xtracolour paints and I have used Airwaves PE set. The marking are for Lt Carmichael's Mig killer, during the Korean war.

Wow, that's a great looking plane!
Very smooth, very clean paintjob. (no drips, rough spots, etc.) Did you mask off and paint the invasion stripes?
Looks like the tan color is a flat coat, and the blue a semi-gloss. But I'm sure you just haven't gotten to the clearcoat yet.
Can't think of anything else to say except that it looks good! :-)

Hi Rafael,
It will get weathered after I've finished applying the decals and another coat of clear.

Hi YodaMan,
Yes the stripes are masked and painted. The clear coat, Klear, is on, just that the tan colour (Sky) was a matt paint and the blue (Dark Sea Grey) was a gloss paint. :-)

Very nice Mal. I can guarentee you mine isn't going to look half that good. Goes to show what a good modeler can do with a crappy old kit. What are u masking the canopy with? Come to think of it what are you masking everything with (Tape)?? Your paint job just seems so clean and neat. Excellent job, glad your daughter is in photography so you can post ypour pics and give us ac minded folks inspiration.

Hi Ryan,
This has been on the go for a long time. I think I masked with house hold masking tape, I'm dreading taking it off. The front section is kit but I've got a vac form sliding section, I think. Told you this one is long in the tooth. My daughter is the reason I have access to a camera, but I take the pics maybe I should let her do it but I have to take them during the day and if the suns out, with her at work, well crappy pics is what you get. I'm sure yours will look good in Canadian markings.
I was hoping to get the rest of the decals on today, but failed. I will try tomorrow. :-)
