Hi all.
Say hello to "Biggles", my first WW1 model :-)
This was a fun build and I wasnt going for 100% accuracy,I just wanted to see if I could actually manage to rig a biplane after all the recent interest on the site in WW1 subjects.
"Biggsy",,as hes know to his freinds,is the Revell Sopwith Camel in 1:72.Built OOB and sprayed with Tamiya Acrylics. He was peshaded in black, and (thanks for the tip Stephen) the ribbing was highlighted by drybrushing a lighter green along the rib lines. The decals were blended in with a heavily thinned mist of the base coat.
The rigging is smoke coloured thread.
Heres the finished photos.

For a first effort I have to say - very nice. You have a talent for the brail - scale (1/72) beauties. Model On!

Wow Nigel! You sure have a knack for 1:72 scale. That is one clean build. I don't have such high hopes with my 1:48 Fokker, but we'll see when I get that far.

I really like the control you displayed in toning down the decals. It's just subtle enough without going overboard. I definitely see the difference, but it doesn't look like there is any paint over it. Great job!

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Cheers,

John

Nice one Nige. I knew you had it in you to build a W.W.1 rickety thingy :-) .
Having seen how small this camel is in the flesh you have done a fantastic job.
Well done mate, now you have to build a Fokker for a partner .

Hi All!
Thanks for the comments and encouragement.Very much appreciated.
It really was a lot fun building this Camel, and especially satisfying to get the rigging done. Some carefull preparation and the actual connecting up was really easy.Just be methodical and go carefully,as with everything.
Jean Luc,,yes its tiny.

As for that colour scheme,,,WOW!,,,,watch this space!!
Cheers everyone
