i purchased the 1/48 scale Ju 52 today and i would like to convert it to a float plane. however i cant find any dimension for the floats or exactly how they are attached, i am assuming the wheels lock into the float? in addition are there any weaknesses i need to know about this kit and its construction

Mal

Hi Darren

Mal is right. There are two sets of floats I know of.

First we have the MDC set which includes full resin floats (pretty heavy - light grey in the pic) and metal struts.
Another set is from Master X (Lumir Vessely) from CZ. These floats are 2 halves each. The struts are resin with a metal rod inside.

Both floats have different dimensions!!!

Unfortunately I do not have the measurements for the 2 float types for the Ju 52 --- there was the 9500 litre float and the 11000 l float (later). The Master X float fits some photos nicely but as I said not sure if both are right or wrong or whatever ... in dubio pro reo

hope this helps a little

cheers

Steffen
P.S. shoot me a PM for a link to more pix of the kits
