I dusted the cobwebs off my high-school German to translate Steffen's (Alpha_Tango) first look at the giant MPM 1/48 scale Greif. I might have paid a bit more attention in class if we''d had textbooks about WW2 bombers!

Great review Steffen and well translated Rowan.
I would hate to think how big this kit builds up to. I remember building the Airfix (i think) 1/72 one when i was a kid and that was huge. Mind you 1/72 was bigger in them days :-) .

...well translated Rowan.
Cheers Andy
But I think we'd better wait for poor Steffen to read what I've done before going that far! I might have really mangled his text! :-)
All the best

Hi Rowan
you did a very good job but I have some nit picks and wishes which I sent you as a PM
Thanks for your effort !!! ... I did not have the time for that project
Now for some further comments about the kit: I was told the lower fuselage profile (in side view) aft of the bomb bay is wrong. This is hard to correct and maybe I'll leave it as it is ...
OTOH I plan to get myself the CMK bomb bay ... so I have to cut the fuselage anyway ...
The 3 sets that were just issued by CMK are not necessary to build the kit. It is the bomb bay, the wheel wells (mostly closed on the ground!) and the engines. .... the price that they call for that is just shameless. (27 Euro for each set !!!!) I got one set (undercarriage) as a review sample and it is nice (pix here) , but as already stated overpriced. I do not know of sets for cockpit, gunners stations, flaps'n'slats, weapons ... yet ...
Eduard just issued a masking set for the windows as did Montex.
Thats all I can say at the moment as the kit is not started yet (too many projects started...)
best wishes
Steffen

Hi Steffen
Thanks for checking the text - I've made the corrections.
The fact that there are some detail sets available now just proves how long I've taken doing your text! It was a silly case of misplaced pride made me take so long - I should have simply asked for help once I realised how much German I'd forgotten since school (or never learned in the first place!) and got the piece published much sooner. Thank you for your patience and I'm really sorry for the delay.
All the best

Hello again Rowan
No apologies if you had not done the translation it still would not be available to those who cannot read German!!!!
I know what hard task such translations are. Not too long ago I did that with a forum thread about the "Sturmgruppen" booklet by osprey and pressed it into an article ... very hard work for several hours and checking and re-checking if I got every thing right what Erich Brown and Neil Page (both intimate experts of those units) wrote ....
Soooo, thank you again for your great work!
best wishes
Steffen
