Hi all.
This is the Revell Hurricane MkIIB in 1:72 and its my entry for the Fighters Under The Midnight Sun Campaign.
Apart from filling and repositioning the outer 2 machine guns on each wing its built OOB.Painted in Model Colour,Tamiya and Xtra Acrylics.
A very big THANKYOU to Emeritus for sending me his spare decal sheet for this kit and enabling me to complete it as a campaign entry, as this version isnt available in the UK.
Any comments and advice for future builds are more than welcome.

Okay, you asked for it!
For the comments: That hurri of yours looks very nice!
Regarding the paint job, what did you use for the black areas?
In the in-prog photos you posted on the FUMS thread, the propeller blades were painted whole black. How did you manage to paint the yellow? Or did you just "cheat" by painting the tips white or light grey first?
The only thing I would add would be a light wash in the wheel hubs and some light weathering to the exhaust pipes.
You need advice for future builds? I got one tip, build some more for FUMS!

Hi Nigel:
It looks great. Nice paint job and clean build. I like very much the effect on the panel lines, specially in the wings. What did you used to enhace the panel lines ?
Congratulations

Nigel:
Man, you really know how to make 1:72 scale models sing. I really love this one!
I think the weathering looks really nice, and the accented panel lines work well. I would agree though, at least from the pictures, the exhaust pipes could use a little variation in color. To me they look a bit flat.
Thanks for showing us one of your 1:72 beauties.
Cheers,
John

Hi guys!
Thanks for the comments.
The black is a "scale black" i mixed up. 2 bottles of Tamiya Flat Black and 1 bottle of Red Brown. First time Ive tried it and Im pleased with how it turned out. The panel lines were done with a very thin black water colour, even over the white decals and its the first panel line wash Ive done that Im actually happy with.
I paint the yellow tips onto the black blades.I mask the tip and it usually takes about 4 thin coats before Im happy with it.
The wheel hubs have had a wash but it doesnt show up so well on the pics as it does when you see it.
Im always experimenting with how I do exhausts. I usually give them a base coat of Humbrol 70,a reddish brown colour. Then I dry brush them with silver and then bronze on top of that.Trying to get that burnt casting look. I think I'll give them a drybrush of gunmetal to take some of the bronze out of it next time.

Nice one Nige.
The scale black really looks effective.
The only thing i feel it needs is a little exhaust staining, but that is a minor nitpick on a great Hurri.
You asked for advice, my advice is build a Mig now :-) .
