Hi all

I will take some photos tomorrow (hopefully) but one thing is clear: it is the best Fw 190 around !!!
BTW the price was 30 Euro!!!!
Edit: I just found 3 pix from the fair on my camera:
cheers

Hi Steffen
Oh well... there goes my big surprise for everyone! :-) Eduard have sent Aeroscale a test-shot of their new Fw 190 too - I'll be starting the build this week. Needless to say, all other projects are on hold for this one!
All the best

Hi Rowan
I am sorry ... but this is not a test shot, but the kit sold on the Leipzig fair!
... I would have preferred the A-5 first but it seems common these days to issue the least interesting variant first for those bakka who like to throw out their money ... like myself
cheers

Didn't your parents tell you to never tease people like that Steffen? Not very nice I must say..... Shame on you....

Hi Steffen
Sorry - I mis-read your post - I didn't spot that you'd bought it! Interesting! Just last week Eduard e-mailed me that some of the finished parts wouldn't be ready for a while yet! They've got it sorted quicker than the postman can deliver!
Perhaps I should keep the test-shot as a collector's item and just go buy the kit... Nahh! I couldn't do that!
All the best

You can't imagine how much today hurt my wallet, so at least grant me the fun to be the first who tells the news ... but remember: Do not shoot the messenger! :-) :-)
@Rowan: seems everything was in the box (except the swastika, which was cut out) .. I even saw some of the other sprues: new wings and fuselages for every variant ! Also eduard did what they wrote in their last news letter and improved the buildability ... Peter Herrman (German importer) showed me some amazing fit and alignment features in the kit
cheers

Hi Steffen
Wow! Am I looking forward to building this! - The pics of the unpainted kit look amazing!
If I'm not around tomorrow night it'll be for one of two possible reasons:
1. The kit arrived and I'm drooling over it as I get started! or...
2. The kit DIDN'T arrive and I'm so gutted, I can't bear to log on! :-)
All the best

Hi Steffen
Something tells me more than just the '190 caught your eye at the show! Did you get anything else exciting?

Hello gang
now it is time to get you a nice box of paper towels ... and please do not call me a tease:
I wrote a short German introduction to the kit: Eduard Fw 190 A-8
Rowan will surely write today (or during this week) what he thinks about the kit ... for me it is the best Fw190 around and well worth the requested 30 €
Horridoh!

Looking very good indeed. Looking at the cut-off portion on the decal sheet, I presume swastikas are included?
Posted: Sunday, October 01, 2006 - 09:45 PM UTC
Hi Eetu
I guess for most countries the swastika is included. Unfortunately eduard chose to made them in one piece, so they had to be cut out for Germany (and maybe some other too).
best wishes

Hi Steffen
It really does look like Eduard have got a classic on their hands - it could knock every previous 1/48 scale Fw 190A into touch!
So what is the present situation with swastikas on kits in Germany? I was told about 10 years ago that you could be arrested for displaying a kit with swastikas at a model show - is that still true?
All the best

Hi Rowan
IMO the Eduard kit is the best Fw 190 around (any scale). It has very nice constructional solutions which will make it easy to build this kit (even for beginners as the 3rd or 4th model) ... I just cut some parts and also started some gluing (cowling) and I am impressed how things fit ... I know that some problems appear out of the blue, but I do not expect any on this model (except self made ... and I am a pro at that )
At the moment I would say I wipe all other project off the desk and build this one ... it is also a nice opportunity to test my new air gun (not to be mistaken: I think of my air brush :-) :-) :-) :-) )
As for swastikas: they are still forbidden with some exceptions for historical works and exhibitions. The problem is, that models are taken as toys here and thus the judges must consider special protection for childen ... a very difficult area. We even had to hide the swastika at the Gatow show, where the Bf 109 and the Storch have large swastikas just behind us.
As long as there is nobody who blaims you it is o.k. and you would have few problems, but there are many people here who think they have the holy grail of morality and only seek for the opportunity ... i better stop now before I get into rant mode .. I guess you got the picture
best wishes
Steffen

This issue has puzzled me for quite a time. Why don't they just do this? -->
No swastikas are supplied on the decal sheet, and if nothing about the middle parts is mentioned on the instructions, no crime is commited, right? Or is the law so strickt that even this kind of gimmicks are frowned on?

Hi Eetu
I agree, but sometimes they do and sometimes not .. who knows why. I can also live with the Hakenkreuz or hakaristi divided in the middle .. a little more alignment necessary but better than nothing .. good thing there is Hannants (and others) and I have a huge stash of decals too :-)
cheers

Looks like I'll have to go into deep negotiations with my wallet about a FW 190A-8 in the near future.....oh well. If I remember correct, this business with the cross hasn't been going for that very long in model industry or am I wrong?

Hi again
Well, Eduard's sample of the A'8 arrived at work this morning! I can see why Steffen was so excited... it's GORGEOUS! Even my colleagues who don't build kits anymore were impressed by the detail - I had a struggle get the sprues back from them! :-)
Good news - at least for all of us outside Germany - the kit arrived with a decal sheet complete with those nasty little swastikas.
All the best
