Hi all,
Here is my second aircraft model. I had a bit of trouble with sanding putty as I lost some detail and realized I missed some spots AFTER I painted. The canopy gave me huge problems. For the life of me I could not get the thing masked properly, and so I just painted it free hand. This was my first time using Future, as well as doing a wash. I ran into some fit problems, mainly at the wing root and the engine cowling. Lots of fun though!.......Now if I can get the photos posted.

Nice model. Looks like you've done a good job to me. I always have trouble painting canopies as well. I especially like the decals on the underside of the wing looks like it would have been quire hard to do.
Keep em coming

Hi Derek,
Looks pretty fine for any effort let alone a 2nd attempt. If you continue to have problems with canopies, try Eduard 'Kabuki' canopy masks. They cost about Ł2-4 normally (About $4-$5) but they do save a whole load of time and the canopies look good afterwards.
I use them all the time - because I don't normally bother with etched/resin sets I can justify a few quid on them.
Regards,
Lee

Hi Percheron:
Nice Stuka you got there. For beeing your second build it looks very well done. I donŽt remember my first and second build but sure they werenŽt good as these one. The canopies were for a long time a nightmare to me until I discovered that using Tamiya masking tape the trouble was reduced and when I started using Parafilm M, masking the canopies was just another item of the building process, not more a nightmare. Give it a try, youŽll be happy with the results. Here is a ling that may help you:
http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/usingparafilmda_1.htm
To solve the fit problems of the wings with the fuselage, you can first glue the upper parts of the wings to the fus. and then the lower part. Doing this you have to be carefull in giving the right dihedral to the wings.
In this hobbie, all is practice and patience. Happy modelling and congrats for your secaond build.

Thank you all for the suggestions!
I tried four different techniques for the canopy, none of which I could get a handle on.
1) White glue spread over the canopy, and then use a razor blade to cut away the frame. Did not work, as the glue pulled away.
2) Micro Mask, cool product, but see above as it did the same thing, even with a new #11 razor.
3) Tamiya fine masking tape, paint still got underneath the tape.
4) Blue painters tape, again, see above.
So the Eduard masks would be wonderful!!! I had no idea that they were out there. thanks again.

Derek,
You can get Eduard masks in the USA from Squadron.com and Rollmodels.com they are about $6 for the Ju87B set but their postage seems very high at $5 (Squadron) and $7.50 (Rollmodels).
I sell them in our store and again the cost ranges from about $4 - $7 depending on the set. Our postage rates to the USA are also pretty low (about $4-$5 for a few sets). So it would work out at about the same price I guess.
Right there's my attempt at selling, personally, I'm going to try the method by Carlos - providing I can get some Parafilm-M in the UK. It seems like a bit more work but if it works out at a fraction of the cost it may be worth it.

Carlos, have you ever tried using Parafilm for hard-edge camouflage - such as the RAF WWII stuff?

Carlos,
Thank you for the tip. I have a La-7 that is my next plane (after I do a T-34/85) and I hope to get some of that stuff to try.

Derek,
Hey it looks fine! I have two of those kits. I've hesitated to build them because of the canopy frames....
Thanks Lee for mentioning the Eduard set, think I'll build one of them now and try out the masks.

Hi Lee:
No, I never used Parafilm M in painting camo schemes. For that I use Tamiya Masking Tape. What happens is that here the stuff doesnŽt exists, so I buy it through Internet and Tamiya Masking Tape is available in every hobbie shop. ThatŽs why I preserve the Parafilm only for the canopies.
I know it works fine for that too.

I have to agree with what has already been said about your build. It looks great...................especailly considering it is only your 2nd. I personaly love the Edwards mask sets, I just completed a B-17 that would have been a nightmare without them. I built a B-25 prior to that and used Tamiya tape for the masks......................they worked out ok, but i swear I spend almost as much time in masking all the glass on that beast as I did building it.
Keep building..............it gets easier.
I promise.
