This opinion poll asks: Should Helicopters have their own forum? We already have a "Rotary Wing" group in General Aircraft, but should this group be made into a main level forum? Thanks for participating!

Jim,
Should this come about, let's name it the broader "Rotary Wing" ...

Thanks for posting the poll Jim. Hope it comes about. I also agree, if it does, that it should be the "Rotary Wing Forum" as well.

Howdy O' Grand Exhalted One!!
This has been brought up before as I'm sure you already know, being the Master Lever Puller around these parts. And the ensuing discussions went round 'n round with good points on both sides of the fence.
If I may, I think the simplest way to put this to bed and move on is to simply make a Rotary Wing FORUM catagory heading, instead of the present Rotary Wing SUB-Forum heading.......that's all.
......what does everybody else think?.........make sense?
Tread.
In fact, if I remember correctly {there's only a slight chance of this ;-) } I was the one who posted the very first post in the Rotary Wing SUB-catagory.............I think. Well, it was either me or HeavyArty ;-)

Hi all!
We really need a Rotary-wing Forum here!
In my opinion, a Helicopter forum would be too narrow.
We have contraptions like the Fairey Rotodyne, V-22 Osprey and all autogyros out there.
So a broader definition is really necessary here, so we can include all those flying things that usually "falls between the chairs".
So let´s go for Rotary-Wing!
Cheers!

staff_Jim, any idea when this may be instituted? The poll numbers are looking great. Looks like a pretty clear cut decision to me.

Hi Gino
Jim's been in the UK of late, so I expect Helos will be in his In-Tray when he gets home! Getting Helos a forum of their own was part of my original plan, so I'm obviously as chuffed as you to see it the clear choice - but the real surprise is the strong vote for maintaining the status quo... I'd honestly expected to see an overwhelming majority in favour of a new forum with a few "don't care" votes.
Sadly, in the Polls system, relatively few members explain their votes - I'd love to know the reason for the "No" vote - but I think it still underlines the value of Polls and that we can't ever take peoples' opinions for granted.
All the best

Case in point. Found 3 wayward helo topics in the Modern forum as USA and no subforum. If they didn't have helo names in the titles, I wouldn't have seen them. Only saw them by chance as well.
Any decision on the Rotary Wing Forum?

Hi Gino
You're preaching to the converted in my case, but you have to realise there's no perfect system and we can't dictate how people use the forum - even with a Helos category, I could still just as validly submit my Focke Achgelis Fa 223 under WW2-Germany wnen I finally get 'round to the beast! What I'd really like to see is subjects appearing under multiple categories where appropriate - but that really would be pushing my luck with Jim...

Rowan,
I know that no system is perfect. Hopefully though, with the Rotary Wing forum, it will be easier for people to select it when they see it and place their posts there.
Thanks for the support.

.........couldn't agree more.
What ever happened with this {conjuring up my best Martin Luther King impression} "I have a dream..." movement?
