I saw one of these this weekend at the Richmond Show but only thumbed through it. After reading a little more on the book(s) over at the SAM Publications website the books looked like they might come in very handy since their geared toward the modeler but provide what looks like a wealth of background and reference information. If any of you own one of these books I have a couple of questions:

1. How do you find the book as far as a reference for the plane in question?
2. Do the chapters geared toward modeling the plane help?
3. Since this is a British pub, are they only going to do books on British planes?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Bryan,
I have 4 of the Datafile and use them alot. To answer you questions:
1. A very good reference for the plane in question.
2. Yep the chapters on modelling do help, particularly when sorting out details between marks.
3. All 7 are of British subjects, probably because the planes are to hand. I couldn't say if they will be doing any foreign subjects, but I can see them doing the likes of The P51 Mustang in the future. I hope so anyway, probably depends if they can get close enough to them. :-)

Holdfast, thanks for the reply and input. Maybe their going to do the planes that fought 'from' Britain during WWII first. I think I'll send them an email and see what kind of reply I get with regard to future subjects.

Well their latest is the E.E. Lightning, so it does look like English subjects, certainly at the moment. It would be a good idea to email them, I'd be interested in their reply. :-)
