Hi everyone,

I just joined the site (found my way here through FSM). I'm 23 and about to graduate college and love modeling (mainly WWII subjects). I was wondering if anyone out there really enjoys the Soviet Union aircraft and armor. Looks like most people here mainly do US and German models, but I was wondering if there were any other 'comrades' out there.

Anyway thanks for reading and I hope to someday contribute some worthwile stuff to this site.

Hi Mark

Welcome to Aeroscale - it's great to have you with us!

You're not alone in liking VVS aircraft - I've definitely caught the bug in my latest builds!

I haven't started a thread on it yet, but I've just made a start on Rest Models' lovely Polikarpov R-5sss:

Looking forward to seeing your Soviet models.

All the best

Rowan

Hi Mark!

Welcome to Aeroscale! Don't worry, you are not alone!

Next year I plan to build a Sukhoi Su.2 resin kit from POMK*. It's probably the worst resin kit ever produced! :-)

Jean-Luc

* I don't show you pictures of the kit because I don't want you to run away!

Welcome to Aeroscale
There has been a bit of a Russian bug going around recently.
I have the Hasegawa Hurricane MKIIB "Red Star" on my build list,,but I think it needs a Yak to go with it!

The next edition of Aeroplane magazine (that's Jan 2007 on sale Dec 1st) will have an article on the use of the Stirling and Lancaster in service with the Soviet Union. The database section will be on the Tupolev SB bombers. In the UK you will also get a free CD - Farnborough and Beyond.

Hi Mark

welcome!!

I have done some Soviet planes too:

Hasegawa with Tally ho! decals. This one is in this months MoM competition ... you could vote for me :-) :-)

Eduard t.10 ... somewhere here is a build thread about this (or just see Rowans (Merlin) nice article

Old Hobbycraft (Academy) kit .. it has been a while since i built (and photographed) this one.

Eduard Yak-3

Eduard Yak-3 ProfiPack (older build)

ICM Yak-9 OOB .. not a really good model ... gave it away (It is now at the Lw Museum in Gatow, but not in public .. I think)

Gavia La-7 .. has some shape issues and the c&m for Koshedub is wrong .. but was a fun build

ICM MiG-3 ... nice model ..bad decals .. I would like to have those again from Errormaster, EagleStrike, AML or other

more in my stash

BTW normally i build Luftwaffe ... but this has changed a lot over the past year or 2

cheers

Steffen

welcome!

I am into soviet planes as well. Although not the WWII ones but a littel bit more recent. I even made a small article for aeroscale on the subject:

https://aeroscale.kitmaker.net//features/1545

Currently I have a SU-27 on the workbench (next to a dozen other models)

Welcome to the forum!

I am most into German WWII stuff, but I cannot keep away completely from the Russian stuff.

For some reason Russian subjects find a warm spot in my heart too.

I'm a bit late, but I love WW2 VVS aircraft too.

Here some pictures:
- Eduard 1/48 I-16 type 10

- South Front 1/48 Lagg-3 type 4

In construction I have an Eduard 1/48 Yak-3(almost done), a Gavia 1/48 La-7 for the Stars of the VVS and a Flashback 1/48 I-153 for the nightfighter group buil on ARC.
I'll post pictures of these in the future weeks.

Hey Mark! I too love the Soviet war machines. In fact 10 out of my 12 models are Soviet. And I believe I saw a few Accurate Miniatures kits on this thread...some of my favorite kits were from them! Happy modeling!
