I think we are going for the latest entry as Reddiscus has only just started the He111 and I havn't even opened the Spitfire Vb box yet.
It will be a Revell/Hasegawa 1/72 He111 based in Italy late 1942 v a Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Vb trop with markings for the highest scoring 'Defence of Malta' ace George 'Screwball' Beurling (Canadian). The decal set is from Aeromaster but it does not clearly identify which colour to use for the spinner - it looks a redish brown colour but if anyone could clarify this I would be gratefull!
So, no competition really - the He111 is just cannon fodder for the mighty Spit!

Hi Lee!
Welcome to the "Duel" Campaign! Don't forget to enlist here
As for the He 111 being cannon fodder, I always say "beware of Helmut the rear gunner"!

OK, cockpit is near enough complete (save for the etched seatbelts).

Well, we pushed the deadline to its limit but finally, we have both finished our aircraft. First off from Reddiscus we have the Revell (Hasegawa) He111 (Italy 1942).
I must say it will be a shame for the He111, with those lovely white bold theatre markings, but 'Screwball' Beurling will have to do his duty......

Achtung Spitfire.........
This aircraft represents PO George 'Screwball' Beurlings 249 Sqn mount from the Defense of Malta. Beurling (A Canadian) was the Top scoring pilot during the defense of Malta with an overal kill total of 23 1/3rd.
Its a Tamiya kit with Aeromaster decals and eduard etched belts finished with Xtracolor enamels. The camouflage was masked with Blu-tack to give the fairly hard edged look. Weathering was done with oil paints and Tamiya 'Smoke' with paint chipping being done with a pencil.

Hi Lee!
Great looking Spitfire! Thanks for one more entry in the Duel Campaign!
Could you shoot a right side view of your model so I can update the Duel Table? It would be nice if Reddiscus could do the same but from the opposite side. By the way, why doesn't he posts the pictures himself? Access problems? I would like to thank him as well for his He 111.

Wow
Very nice entries for the campaign - and just in time The splinter camo on the HE 111 is very nice and there is a nice contrast between the camo and the white theatre markings.
The Spitfire is really nice with a superb weathering job. Good job on this one as well.
Thanks for sharing

Cheers,
Lee

Really nice entries guys!
I really like the spitfire tropical (?) camo. The subtlety of the weathering is excellent.
The white theatre markings really make the He-111 standout as well
Cheers
