Perhaps a silly question, but I'll ask it all the same.

I've decided I would like to try the WEM Colourcoat range of enamel paints and am now ready to make an order. However, I would like to ask how far each tin will go when airbrushing the paint, so I can order enough to make the shipping worthwhile, plus I would hate to run out an an inopportune moment.

An example of my quandary: I model in 1/48, and am currently focusing on WWII RAF Bomber Command and night fighter A/C , so I can see a lot of Night in my future. A couple of the first A/C I'm working on are the Tamiya Beaufighter NF(actually a IIf using the CMK conversion) and Mosquito NF II in all Night finish, probably to be followed by the Trumpeter Wellington. So, giving average coverage, how many tins of Night black should I initially order to insure I don't run out until after at least those three are finished?

See, I mentioned it was a silly question. But these are the things I think about before making a purchase.

Dave.
I don't know if this will help but a 1/2 oz (15ml) bottle will cover approximately 3 square feet sprayed at a thickness of .5 mil. This assumes no loss in overspray. Large surfaces can be covered with less loss to overspray than small parts.

Hi David!

I´m using the WEM Colorcoats all the time, and I really like these colors!

Coverage is generally very good, one or two coats are enough to get good color density.

Darker colors covers better then light of course, and how far each tin will go depends on how much you thin the paint too.

For three big models, I would buy at least 3 tins, just to be on the safe side, but I believe 2 would be enough.

An example; I recently painted a Trumpeter 1/32 Me262 and a 1/48 V.1 with two good coats of RLM76 (Light Blue) each, and I still have more then half the tin left.

Cheers!
