If I understand your use of the ready can, yes the ammo would feed from it. Can you post a photo or line drawing from kit for me to verify?

Hey Matt, the large ammo can that's provided with the kit holds the ammo for the window gunner. The can if I'm not mistaken is a bit large for the kit. Gino "HeavyArty" would know more about them. The center can will normaly hold up to 7000 rounds for the both guns. The cans themselfs come in a wide range to hold different amonts, this one holds 100 and can be joined togather to hold more.
There are cans that can carry as many of 1500 or more. Again Gino the Black Hawk expert would/could answer this clearer.

Joe is correct. They would normally be fed from the central ammo box. It is too tall in the kit as well. It should have about 1/8 inch cut off the bottom. The center can holds 4500 rds per gun, for a total of 9000 rounds. The guns can also be fed from individual 2500 round boxes that look like 40mm ammo cans with feed drive motors on top (just like those on the top and rear of the large ammo box).
The smaller ammo box above holds 1500 rounds and is not for an M134 though. It is the type used on the M-23 doormount for M60s seen on Hueys.

If you mean the Cobra Company XM-93 Automatic Gun System set, then the answer is no. That type ammo can is not used on UH-60s. The Academy ammo box is correct, just too tall.
The guns aren't right either. They are correct for Vietnam era M134 miniguns, but not current ones. The current version of miniguns are those depicted in the Academy kit, which are pretty nice. The major difference is that the current ones have a cylindrical flash suppressor on them.
