Hi
I’m planning to start up Rodens Nieuport 28. This one will be pretty much a relaxbuild for me. The kit will get the part etch for some extra details. The engine witch I don’t really like, but lacking of Vector replacements it has to do. Now the question is only me and my eyes, but should the blue colour on the roundels really be that kind of blue.

Greetings Lars;
The blue from French manufacturers applied to AEF machines was pretty much a vivd to a bright blue. When it came from AEF stocks it had just more black to it. The fabric examples I have seen bare this out. Also the Vector resin Gnome is a 100hp. You need 160hp and no one make them in resin / aftermarket.

Thanks Stephen
regarding the engine, it´s a small cowlopening so my hope is that we will not see most of the engine. And with no Vector at hand I´ll have to use the stock one.
If I understood you correct that blue is not all that bad then?

Here is the Roden kit with the Glencoe markings for Hartney's machine. I did a cutaway here on the fuselage.
These cockades or roundels and rudder stripes are close to the Fench applied blue. The spine stripes are close to the AEF "in the field" blue.

This is the Roden kit with mostly kit markings.
These cockades or roundels are Roden decals and rudder stripes are painted. This is a good representative of the blue paint from AEF stocks.
