I would like to try some acrylic/enamel washes on my planes and boats. I'm wondering though, which should I use? For example if my base coat was acrylic, do I also use an acrylic wash? What about enamel? And finally, how about on a Future/Lacquer coat?
Thanks!

Hi Ion:
No matter what type of paint you have used, first apply a Future coat and then the washes. In this way you will not ruin the paint.

It's usually good to think opposite's.If your paint is enamel, then use an acrylic wash,if it is acrylic then use enamel.Think if you have an enamel finish then if you were to mix up a wash of enamel paint and enamel thinner, then the wash would attack the base coat.

Two or three thin coats of Kleer/Future should work even if you use an enamel wash over enamel base coat - but if not sure get some scrap styrene and test first.
