The post of the Aussie Phantom got me thinking about all of the different a/c that have been created and then exported. I think it would be fun to model a few of these different multi-national uses, so I was thinking if all of you could pitch-in and help me by listing as many different a/c as possible that have been used by several countries.
I'll start out.
The P-51 Mustang used in the USA, UK and Sweden (there must be more)
The F-4 Phantom of course.
The F-104 Starfighter: USA, Germany, Italy +others
Mind gone blank...

They might not have met, But both the Finnishs and Soviet air forces had Hawker Hurricanes as well as Bristol Blenheims, presumably at the same time.
Could be nice topics for duels, don't you think.

Wow! I missed a few on the P-51 Thanks Darren!! It would be cool to do all of them...
But what about other non-US countries. I know the Mig was used by block countries, but also by Finland which is NATO.
Are there other countries than Israel that used the F-14? (I don't know the answer, a true question on my part)
After missing that the BAe Tornado was a swept wing a/c I've stopped thinking I knew a little... which also has been used by several countries (eventhough it was a co-op)
Thanks for the input!! All of these inputs could be very interesting indeed for dueling...
More, more, agh, agghh, I want more... :-)

If you want really odd topics you could try to dig up the test-planes that Germany sent to Japan for evaluation. I know there should be at least one version each of Bf 109 and FW 190. Maybe a Bf 110 too.
And since you are swedish: I have seen (but lost the link) a picture of a P 35 Seversky, in mixed american and swedish markings, at the first battle of the Philipines. The second batch we should have got to Flygvapnet was rerouted to the pacific after Pearl Harbor, and sent into action on too short notice for full repaint.
And when we talk about P's. Don't forget Russian P 39's and P 40's, and Chinese P 36 Hawk, P 40 Tomahawk and P 66 (i think) Vengeance. Not to mention chinese Polikarpovs.

My late father was in the battle of/for Phillipines, that mixed a/c could be very interesting. Can you dig up the link, or is just to google??

It was Iran not Israel that had the export version of the F-14 and that is the only country to my knowledge that did.Are there other countries than Israel that used the F-14? (I don't know the answer, a true question on my part)

Iran? There was another connection that I never thought of. Ok, Iran it is, I'll take your word for it.
Well I thought this list would be long, but alot longer than I thought. It almost seems like there isn't an a/c that hasn't been exported..
Thanks again! Please add more if you find the time...

Don't forget probably the most "exported" aircraft in history the Mig 15 and the Mig 21
Only in recent years overtaken by the F-16

Hi again Brian.
I tried to google the US/Swedish marked Seversky, but I didn't find it. I might have seen it in a book. It was a few years ago, so memories are a bit hazy.
Anyway, the pic was a real mugshot, taken almost from behind, at a mission take off, so it was hard to see anything in detail really.
About the F 14, the Shah of Iran bought a dozen or two, but deliveries were stopped when the Shah was overturned.

Thank you all for your input! I thought this might get a lot of interest, but not this much!! Cool!!
I am thinking that it is probably better to ask what a/c wasn't exported!!!

There are two apparent questions that comes out of this discussion.
1: What airplane has been used in the largest amount of different ariforces?
It feels like the DC 3, P 51, Phantom and one or two Dassault a/c are strong contenders here.
2: On how many occations have a pilot had to fight it out with the same type of aircraft he has flown.
For instance, when Sweden aquired the P 51 (J 26 in SwAF) it was first considered to be placed as interceptor in the south. But since we then risked meeting USAAF-P 51's, the Reggiane 2000 (J 26) was placed in the south instead. The P 51's was moved to the north to avoid misidentifications.

Thanks Phil for the additions!
Tony, great extention of the topic.
It brings up an intriguing complexity for air forces around the world. Maybe I'm wrong in my assumption, but it almost seems like this idea only was valid after WW2 since there was a migration to eastern and western blocks. With Russian built machines to the east and various machines to the west. Of course I am thinking freely here, I have no facts to back it up with!
