Greetings Ross;

Usually for a nice wooden propeller I would laminate and carve my own. Or you could purchase a wood prop from Copper State Models. These are made by Martin Digmayer of the Czech Republic. You can get one of a hundred different profiles in various scales.

Hello JackFlash, what wood or woods work best for making your own propellors?

Greetings Kriegshund; I will usually use bass, mahogany, and (or) walnut. Most propellers used two of these types in various combinations. Then there is an over all stain or varnish. It could be clear, red brown or dark brown. The French usually used a red brown shellac. This was opaque not translucent like other manufacturers in Germany . The British also used this shellac various degrees.

Greetings all;

I have been asked for further info on how to carve your own propellers. Marqueting woods come usually with a glued on paper backing. You have to get down to just the wood and then begin your laminations. Here are the steps.

Hello JackFlash,
What kind of adhesive do you use to join the laminations?
