I would say clear green is the best choice. Photo's of the real deal that I have seen indicate almost a prism effect depending on which angle the HUD is viewed from. I will see if I can find a picture or two to post here.

Any color you see on a HUD would be the color of the computer display being on the HUD. In flight/taxiing(sp)/powered up the HUD would appear greenish, but in a powered down state it would be virtually clear (see below: the color variation seen in the photo is the prism effect of the curved glass bending the light). Head to http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/, and go to the Walkaround section for some good reference photos.
BTW, a 1/32 F-15 while 'fun' is hardly a 'little' kit. I had that kit in my hands the other day myself. Almost bought it. Let us know how it builds up.

Well, seeing that this is my second Tamiya F-15E (Ibuilt one in '96 for a F-15E crew Cheif at Hickam AFB, HI while i was stationed there) all is going fine and it builds nice the only prob i ever had is the nasty seem inside the intakes and the masking and painting them after the sanding is done!!!! The other thing that's with rebox is the extra munitions for the pylons!! If your like me and got the trumpeter 1/32nd A-10 you now have enoughbombs and such to load out your A-10 with scale ammo!!!! hehehehe stug

If you're looking to do it as powered up and green, try using a Vis-a-Vis (water soluable overhead marker) Scribble a spot onto a bit of plastic, then drip a drop or two of Future onto it. Stir and paint into place.
Works great for HUD's Helo sights, cockpit instuments, etc...
